Title: Fur Garments

Was mentioning low fur prices on another thread, and was thinking this would be a good year to have some cool stuff made out of fur that you trap yourself. I had Wild Things fur in Wisconsin make me hats for me and my grandsons and my wife a pair of elbow length mittens. All made from extra large 'rats that I trapped in February last season. Am very pleased with their craftsmanship and pricing. So for all you "It Aint About The Money" trappers, invest in a fur hat or jacket or whatever this season. For the rest of you, you're screwed!!

Wish I had pix of the hat my buddy made years ago out of a cross fox I got when I lived on Kodiak.  He did it traditional style with the nose and eyes coming over the forehead and the front legs and paws used as a strap under the chin with a deer antler button for a fastener. Had the tail hanging from the back Daniel Boone coonskin hat style. I'll see if he still has it and get photos if he does. He was also given a chunk of old brown bear hide that he made a vest out of that's pretty imposing.

Call Amanda at Harts Lake Trading right here in Yelm Washington. She does a great job making fur garments. She has made fur coats for the WSTA in the past.

Harts Lake Trading Post have made a otter hat for myself and Lynxcat belly head bands for both of my daughters. I'll have them make a badger hat for my son, and probably that skunk blanket I've been wanting this year.
With harts lake trading you know your pelts were used in the garment, plus all the trimmings, tails, etc are put in a bag and shipped back with your garment. Very easy to work with and professional product. They are out of Yelm, and only a phone call or e-mail away when sizes, instructions are exchanged.
The Platonis are also staunch supporters of WSTA and trapping in Wa. state. They have built (at no charge) the vest or jacket WSTA presents to Miss Rodeo Washington every year. And have forever. They buy advertising in the WSTA newsletter every issue and have forever.

Sunnyslopes is right.  "Harts lake Trading Post does a great Job"
My wife had a otter coat that I had made for her years ago that she had them altered into a vest for her.
Amanda did a great job.  I highly recommend them to you folks.

Harts Lake is a Big Supporter of WSTA.  Amanda has been designing and making the "Fur Vest" for Miss Rodeo for ten ~ twelve years now that I know.  The Miss Rodeo is one of our programs that WSTA supports and the Cowgirls look good in their Fur Vest and show them off at their events.  Harts Lake has an ad in "The Fur Shed" newsletter.  Check it out.

And yes Sunnyslopes is right, whether it is Washington State or another state
support your state trappers association and support the businesses that support you too.

This year would be the perfect year to do something with your fur.
