Title: Buying a used bow.
Post by: Tjajwilson on November 02, 2015, 11:47:04 AM
I am talking to this guy that wants to sell his 2006 or 2007 Mathews Denali bow. I cant seem to find it anywhere or find any information. The guy swears that its a Mathews not an Alpine which I can find a Denali in Alpine. I don't know all the brands and such so is there anyone that has a lot of experience that can help me with information on the bow i.e specs and maybe a good a starting price

Likely a Drenalin instead of a Denali.  I wouldn't spend too much for it.  All depends on how made you want it.

I shoot a Mathews drenalin. I got mine used and borderline set up for about $450 in 2012 I think. I've put another $300 in the bow trading stuff out but the bow shoots great no complaints.

It's not super fast compared to some of the other bows that are out now. I shoot Easton bloodlines with 100g 3-blade muzzys at about 260 fps with a 27" draw.

Check out eBay before you buy it if your worried about a good deal.

:yeah:
Drenalin is my guess also.   Even set up you are probably going to make changes so I wouldn't spend a lot on it, nothing more than $350.

Bare bow on ebay is $275 fitted from $499 to $750!
I think I will tell him $300 fitted, then bicker to maybe $350

Outfitted could mean $30 worth of crap thrown away from other R2H packages.  Or it could be $300 worth of primo goodies.  I would want a detailed list of accessories before I doubled any price of a bare bow.  Would have to be some extremely good stuff before I'd spend more than $250 for a 2007 Anything.  Let alone a Drenalin.

Drenalin is 320 fps, 3.9# and draw length specific.  A lot of new 2014/2015 bows in stores right now that fit that same speed and weight for nearly the same money.  And they are NEW, have draw length adjustability at no cost, store support, and do not have a history of breaking limbs.

I'm not saying you are getting a bad deal.  Not at all.  I don't have enough details to be able to say good or bad.  But go into any used bow purchase with your eyes wide open.  And don't get blinded by the glare coming off the logo!

Of course if it's a Hunt Wa member, you may have just tipped the negotiations in his favor :chuckle:

Drenalin for sure.....never made a denali.  Great bow if it is in great condition but definitely not worth a ton of money.  $300 bow max.  With nice accessories $400.  You can find really nice newer mathews set up for the 600-800 buck mark.
