Had an awesome season this year.
This point in my hunting life, just killing a deer doesnt do it for me anymore. I only want mature blacktails. Sometimes thats a big old 2 point, and sometimes bigger. Because of that I've had some nasty tag soup the last 2 years
I dont ever remember a season like this year. Lots of rutting bucks all week. Awesome nasty wet, and windy weather almost all week
Monday I went out, and watched a 3 point, spike, and 4 does all day hoping a bigger guy would come and play. Didnt happen.
Tuesday I convinced my wife that the boy looked a little sick, and should probably stay home from school, and come with me to the woods. My friend Jakeland, my son, and I went back up after the 3 point. Jake found the spike early, but we never did find the 3 point.
Wednesday the rain and wind turned it up a notch, and Errett was still very sick :chuckle: we hunted all morning, and found a couple does and a spike. We decided to let him go, and went to another spot. On our way there we ran into a 2 point right in front of us. Errett dropped in with a clean shot. That buck was dead before he hit the ground. That was Errett's 5th BT buck in 7 years.
Thursday morning came quick. Jake woke me up with a phone call at 5:30. I had to rush to get up there before daylight. I didn't make it to my spot, so stopped at a cut a little shy of there. As soon as it was light enough to see I found a spike. About 10 min later I hear a single shot, about a 1/2 mile away. Then I get a text "tagged out", from jake. I keep watching the spike, figuring it was just the 2 of us hanging out while the big boys, and does are in the cut I should be at, if I wouldnt have slept in. :chuckle:
40 mins later a doe appears out of nowhere. She looks pretty nervous, and starts looking behind her. Then just like lightning a buck rams her right in the butt. She jumped 4ft straight in the air, and the chase was on. He chased her about 20ft, and stopped looking around like a bad ass. I quick grabbed my gun, and dropped him. I honestly believe I saved a life, when I took that bucks life. He wasnt much of a gentlman :chuckle:. The rest of the day we packed the deer to the road, carted them down the mountain. Great day

Awesome, looks like good times all around!!

I like the baby cart! You always want your buck to be comfortable on the ride to the freezer.

We, had a great time. It's great hunting with a guy that's as sick in the head about blacktails as I am. :chuckle:

Good job Ethan in all the years hunting together you allways put every bit of effort into Erret getting his buck before yours and it shows with his growth as a hunter each year. This was the first year we tagged out on the same day and hunt. What a fun day from the early morning ohhhhhh sh$t we're late to trying to figure out how we are getting both bucks outta there to on Friday helping another friend not only fill his tag with a great buck but helping him get it out of the woods. Awesome job as usual to you my friend you are a class act
