Title: Finally my white river permit is here.

Made some of these with different reeds sweet elk calls. Using these this year for calling cougar.

You might get a foot in the higher elevations tomorrow night, that will help a bunch. If you see another cougar, please kill that damn thing!! Good luck, keep at it.

Any clue who this is? My buddy and his dad are up there with the same tag right now. Haven't heard anything from them yet though. My buddy had the tag last year, his dad got lucky and was drawn this year

I don't understand this, this is a closed GMU for elk right now and there are only a few special permits given out. Am I missing something? You should pretty much have the whole GMU to yourself other than a few other hunters and some recreationalists. Are all these other hunters tribal? Good luck on your hunt! I have been putting in for the White River for 12 years and cant draw it for nothing. I hope you put a good one on the ground.

I hunted the unit most my young adult life when it was over the counter, I started killing elk about every other year before it went to permit only. I was the only guy in camp to kill elk, not bragging, just saying it can be a tough hunt. There are a few sweet spots but even those dry up some years, hope you had fun Rick, it sounds like you tried very hard. You will get em next time.

I doubt you screwed up by leaving the 70rd alone... sounds like you hit some solid spots, and just didn't cross paths with the right elk. As you're well aware, it's hunting, not killing. Next time, brother! :tup:

Good effort and and a good attitude. I had the tag 2 years ago.
My thought is you want no snow or a lot of snow. Anything in between
