Got the first hunt of the year in this morning, northern birds aren't in yet still a little early. Didn't even manage to decoy a mallard, but barrels were hot with 3 limits on the water in 30 minutes. Basically a third gadwall, a third widgeon and the rest green wings. Guess I'll hit it again late November for some green heads! Best of luck to everyone this year.

I saw the same. Mallards all landed in middle of pond out of gun range. I passed up on lots of teals and a few buffies. Need some cold weather to close up some water and bring in some new birds

Teal and widgeon seem to get in 2-3 weeks before the mallards push into the moses area, just hope they stop and don't push south to the flooded fields.
