My ex-FinL was a survivor, they decided to walk into  t he hunting spot and were able to get back out.  They ended up staying at the local jail until they could get their car back to Rochester.

The book mentioned, " All hell broke loose," is a very well written account of the happening.

My Dad's dad was on the Mississippi River in that.  He and a friend spent the night on a little island hunkered under their boat.  I guess my Grandpa's friend lost a couple of fingers to frostbite.
