Title: New Bow?
Post by: colockumelk on January 20, 2009, 10:26:58 PM
I'm going to buy a new boy this spring and I'm looking at either the Admiral, the Captain or the 82nd.  Does anyone own any of these bows or have knowledge of them, insite advice etc.  Thanks.

I bought a Admiral at the end of the year.  It is awesome!

thanks for the response.  What do you like about your Admiral.  Is it super smooth, fast, accurate, vibe free etc.

All of the above for me.  Most all of the manufactures are making good bows.  The Admiral just felt the best for me.

All are great bows!  Me personally, I would stay away from the 82nd as it has very radical cams and it very tempermental when shooting it if you were to make a mistake...  Also, if you have to let down, it will rip the string right out of your hands and give your shoulder a pleasant jerk as well which may not feel to good an hour or so later...

As for the Admiral and the Captain..  Both are great bows, really smooth drawing and very smooth shooting!  Both are put near vibration free and are fairly fast as well.  Also, both bows are very forgiving to the shooter therefore, more forgiving to mistakes..  If you do any treestand hunting I would go with the Admiral just because of the length, however 3 inches longer for the Captain isn't much and will be a great hunting bow as well.  Hope this stuff helps..

I've been waiting for the CP bow since the guardian came out.  The admiral is the bow for me; short, light, fast enough, almost vibe free, quiet, etc.  The captain is heavier and longer.  My admiral shot great.

Thankyou all very much I've heard that the Admiral was really smooth.  I didn not know if the 82nd was rough or not.  As fast as it is I was a little bit skeptical.  I've test fired the X-Force and while it's fast it's also rough as hell and will rip you arm out of your socket.  What else do you like about the Admiral?  I've pretty much made up my mind on getting the Admiral but I want all the info I can get before I make such a large purchase.

Does anybody have a Bowtech Captain?  I was looking at their website and that looked like an awsome bow.  It looks like it has all of the awsomeness of the Admiral but is bigger and thus probably more forgiving.  ANy thoughts.

FYI the captain weighed in on postal scale at 5lb 2oz bare, my 08 Allegiance weighed in at 5lb 5oz with a stabilizer, QAD rest and SpotHog wrapped sight and a STS.
I was looking at the captain until we weighed it.
The Admiral is over a pound less than the Captain, there both great shooting bows though.

The Admiral is an awesome bow.  I liked it slightly better than the Captain because the Captan seemed a little awkward to me as in top heavy.  If you like the Admiral also check out the Hoyt Alphamax 32.  Hell, just make sure you try all the new bows out there.

Wow that is heavy.  Maybe I'll go with the Admiral.  I'm torn between that and the SWAT so I'll just have to shoot both of them.

yeah it's heavy for a bowtech,I wanted the Captain for the longer length, but when I held the captain in one hand and the admiral in the other hand I was surprised by the weight difference.

The length of the Captain is why I liked it because they tend to be a little more forgiving.  As short as the Admiral is is it still forgiving?  How does it shoot.  I have a primos bow sling so I might still get the Captain.  I'll just have to shoot them I guess.  My local bow shop doesn't have them in yet though so I"ll just have to wait.

I think the Admiral is pretty forgiving for the length.  But I'm only 5'6".

Ha Im 5' 6" and a 1/4.  Midget.  I'm going to Yakima tomorrow so hopefully Grizzly Archery has the new ones in so I'll check them out. It just comes down to finally shooting them and seeing which one I like the best.  Thanks for all the advice.

I shot the Admiral, the Captain and the Allegiance today and I"m definately getting the Admiral.  It was so damn smooth and when I shot it with my eyes closed there was hardly and vibe to speak of it was amazing.  It was the greatest thing I've ever shot.  Definately getting the Admiral.  Wow is all I have to say.
