Good Morning,
My bosses friend went out archery hunting last Friday and never showed up back at his rig. Search and rescue has been looking for him for two days. They said they were asking for anyone that knew this area. I thought I'd put this on here and see if anyone knows this area well and thinks they can help? He is an archery hunter and was hunting with a tree stand. If anyone thinks they can help, let me know and I can give more information. Here is the specifics.
He was off 26 road J under the power lines. This is West of Royal City before Beverly. It is near crab creek.

Dont know where j road is... I head up c road a bit for waterfowl. May be going out this weekend. I'll look it up and try to take a detour and do some searching. Good luck to him and search and rescue.

I know the area fairly well, Worked on a ranch there all through college and have done some duck and coyote hunting out there. Bet he got in the tall sage and cannot see. It can get swampy and pretty nasty out there too. Hope he is ok!
-
When I first read about him missing, for some reason I assumed he was up in the bluffs above the creek. :dunno:
-
He has to be hurt. I can see getting disoriented in fog, but there are landmarks all over that place to orientate yourself, once it clears. I hope this turns out ok and is just having trouble hiking back with one of the brutes that live in the russian olives.
-
it cant be much more than a couple miles to a road, but it can be rough going. did he have a gps? whistle or phone? it has been in the 20's at night. mike w

It's not looking good at this point. At first word of him not showing up, being lost was a pretty good assumption. Now that it's been this long, it's pretty unlikely to simply be a case of being lost. I hope for the best for him.

I keep thinking if he was ok, they would have seen his fire by now, if he doesn't have a fire he's done.

Dang, I wish I heard about this on Saturday. I was just out there then, I am familiar with that area and would've gladly helped search. I hope there is still a happy ending here! Prayers sent!

Is it confirmed he was in a tree stand? I've been very active in this search and had not heard a confirmation on the tree blind. If this is true then the search can be narrowed down a lot.
-
Any updates?

It isn't confirmed. All they know is his tree stand was not at his house. But it isn't known if he took it out there and was actually using it.

Still missing...
Very unfortunate. My heart goes out to the family on this holiday week. To be missing this long, even as skilled of an outdoorsman that this guy was, the odds are not in his favor given the cold temperatures and the snow. I assume the search is back on, but I haven't heard confirmation of that. I know it was called off due to weather.

There seems to be a news blackout. I don't get it. I have tried to use search engine to find updated info and there isn't anything.
-
I think the fact that there hasn't been an update in 22 hours from grant county sheriffs office is not a good thing. Im wondering how long until they call off the search.
-
Fairchild AFB had a search chopper out yesterday but it returned last night with no findings.
-
His body is believed to have been found. Very sad.

Such a sad day. I really do not like seeing things like this.

Damn...
-
That is so sad. I hate it when these stories don't have a happy ending. Prayers to his friends and family.

I didn't want to hear that, but I knew it was coming. He had been out too long and there is a lot of particularly dangerous traps one can get ones self into in that country.
-
Sorry to hear about this bad news.
-
So sad.
I wonder if it was a fall from his tree stand?
-
None of the news reports say, but if I were a betting man....
I have friends who climb into tree stands w/one hand holding a firearm and w/the other they kinda' grab for the next rung up. It is just a matter of time....
I always attache a rope and haul my bow or firearm up after I am in, sitting and secure.
-
that is terrible. at least he was doing what he liked. prayers for the family
-
Reported that he fell off an 80 foot embankment in another thread.
-
That's what I heard at work. Very sad. Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope it was the fall that did him in, Lows in the teens lately. Be careful out there people, there's not a deer on this planet worth what he went through.

Terrible news, my prayers are with his family.
