So, I've done a little pheasant and quail hunting in the past. I'm interested in going for a Turkey Thursday morning. I have NO clue what I'm doing though. I have an over/under with a turkey choke and a full choke.
Does anyone out there who isn't a total weirdo interested in taking a first timer turkey hunting? A little weird is OK. My father is not a hunter, my father-in-law is not a hunter. I'd like to learn so that I can take my 3 year old out when he is old enough.

I hate to say it, but if I was in your shoes I would drive logging roads starting as soon as you can see what is going on. For a first time, one day hunt, it would be your best shot at a bird. You could also have a chance at bonus grouse.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think my biggest concern is knowing where to hunt and where not to hunt. I don't mind putting the work in but I don't want to make a mistake and get onto private property, or shoot a bird I'm not supposed to shoot at.

I use the onxmaps on my phone, it tells you exactly who owns everything.
