On the board today with a nice fat skunk. :) I only have three cage traps set right now specifically for skunk. Trapping out at a horse farm. I don't start setting any leghold for another couple of weeks. Can't set water sets until after 1 Dec. So a little slow right now. First time using Acetone and all I can say is WOW :yike: Less than 10 seconds after I injected the skunk and it was dead! No smell, no mess, very nice!!
I have three of the tube traps. If I had it to do all over I would not buy them. I would just use cage traps and inject them. .22 to the head or chest is about 50% spray 50% no spray. Injecting is about 95%. This skunk was very laid back. took 12cc in the chest and literally laid down and was dead in just about 7 or 8 seconds. No smell. I just skinned her and no odor at all.

I get it in quart cans at Home Depot in the paint section. Quart is the smallest I have found it in.
Made a home owner very happy today!

There used to be a lot of stripped Skunks around here 30 years ago, now it is rare to even see one ran over on the highway. Maybe it's the lack of old barns to live under and fewer chicken coops to raid.
Nice catch.
Yeah, what do you do with that? Bait pile?
Nice otter. Is that your first one over east?
Do they have a limit on otter over there, like eastern wa?Nice otter. Is that your first one over east?
It is!
Eastern Washington doesn't have a limit on otter anymore and it is open in all of eastern Washington.Do they have a limit on otter over there, like eastern wa?Nice otter. Is that your first one over east?

The trapping regs do not limit the otter catch and does not state closed counties in eastern Wa.
This is the first year I've been able to trap otter in grant county.

Tell him to read the regs. That went away this year.
Fred,
I'm so used to looking at WA furs and always hearing about different sections. Can you tell us how VA beaver compare?
What are you going to do with the tails?
I saw an article in Traditional Archery mag about a bow handle wrap that was pretty cool.
Planning on making some wallets and ladies coin purse. I'm also going to make a bullet bag for muzzle loading. Seen a nice holster overlay done that was really nice!!
:bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash::bash: I forgot the safety on my koro beaver trap and missed out on one tge first day. The beaver got very smart after at day. Lol
Snapped 330, one safety still in place. Probably missed the otter I have been impatiently waiting for.
They will go in a cage trap, caught a nice red last year in a cage trap.

Well Bruce you're right I'm WRONG there is nothing that says it anymore!!!!! Now if he will go in the cage he's only been digging all around it
What do you ( Fred and Bruce ) do you suggest for bait he won't commit to the beaver meat there was about 2" of fresh snow and his tracks were around the cage again any help on getting him to commit would be appreciated!Boy, I have no expertise in fox trapping. Would love to catch one but never been where there are any.
Well my friend I caught my sly and super smart fox on vanilla wafers set for coons. :chuckle: Look at the photo, you can see on his face he was embarrassed.:chuckle:
Got threatened a couple of days ago. Trapped 6 beaver for a guy on his property and now someone from a HOA is asking the board to bring charges against me. :) The HOA's covenant expired in 1999 and they have no rules or regulations, so the landowner told him to pound sand.:chuckle:
Awesome!! So wish we could use conibears! So many places I could use em!
Thanks guys, having fun this year and only running about 8 to 12 traps at a time so it's been slow and steady, which is good as some night I spend a couple of hours just trying to drive to my spots to check traps.
Another big fella tonight. Lots of rain today. Awesome out in the woods!!!Is it just me or does the first two pictures of beavers have a cougar in his fur? Looks like and eye and one side of the face!!!

So I said a little prayer this morning for no skunks since I forgot my syringe pole at home. Must have been some miscommunication because I had 2 waiting for me this morning! :)
Let skunk #1 go, very docile and really big, great fur and a nice big white stripe. Wished I had my syringe pole!

Swung by the house and picked up the pole for skunk #2. This little stinker was very aggressive and bite the pole, first one I had do that.

Thanks guys, it was my pleasure. Going to start running a hog bait tomorrow. I'll post those photos in the other big game section. :)
