So at 10:30 AM I had the one buck I have been holding out for come in. Needless to say I had a 24 yard shot and hit him in the back part of the shoulder. He turned after I shot so I couldn't see if the arrow was sticking out. I assumed pass through since I have hit a bear in the shoulder in the past and broke through both shoulders..... after waiting an hour cause I knew I hit him in the shoulder I started to follow blood. After about 20 yards I start finding steady blood like at a constant. I think thank god its decent enough blood. 30 more yards I find my arrow. Only about 5 inches of it has blood down the shaft and the rest looks like blood was flowing down the arrow shaft and dripping off it. 30 more yards of less and less blood and it all ends. I backed out for another 2 hours. Then started my first pass of going across a draw it ended in. On the other side of the bottum I find a couple little drips I came across luckily and then no more. As im looking at the ground about 60 yards up the draw, my buck came barreling down through the thicket and up and across the other side where he was shot from mowing down everything in his path full bore. After 3 more hours searching spots where I caught glimpses and hearing his path and grid searching with my wife we could not cut a single drop of blood or jump him again. He did not run like he had anything wrong with him and still had the doe with him that he originally came in with! Im very much hoping he survives and gives me another opportunity or at least on cams or im done for the season because I feel so sick. One of the main reasons for this post is the broadhead I mentioned that I shot through both shoulders on my bear was a shuttle T. I decided to try Schwackers this year and shot a bear with them, had a pass through in the ribs and was very pleased with the results. After today and Schwackers barely going in a deer shoulder out of a 68 lb draw pse evo I am pretty frustrated with the performance. So to anyone reading this post, use a fixed blade punching type head if you want performance if your shot is barely off perfect. I will no longer be using my schwackers and putting my shuttle T's back on. I wish I didnt come to find this out on the biggest buck I have ever seen....... lessons learned. Dont learn the hard way people!

I saw the same thing in the swakane on a big 3 point the guy was using the same one as you. After seeing that I would not change. If something is not broke don't change it. Just my opinion.

Anyway all hunters make mistakes good luck next year!!!

He's a good deer, i hope he lives and you get another shot at him.
Honestly, i never wanted to try mechanical. This is my first archery year after 2 of modern. I've never really talked to people about mechanical, but I've seen a few used on shows and such. They always seemed like a gimmick to me. I'm a machinist and mechanic. More moving parts to me has always meant bad things can happen. I just never liked the idea of them.

Yeah I regret it. Hoping to see him on one of the cams on thursday when I go to check still chasing does.

your shot was not that good, that is the issue here.. if it was.. that story never happens.. the head was not the issue... the shot was.... my buck was shot with a 2.3 in rage... through the front shoulder quartering hard... and out behind the back rib.. deer went 70 yrds and was stone cold dead in under 5 seconds.....

With a different head though I believe it would have been a different story. I know my shuttle t would have busted through. And im not denying it was a poor shot i was stating with my old heads I have more room for error if that happends.
