Post by: winchestergirl on January 21, 2009, 06:22:07 PM
hey im new to hunting waterfowl in washington.
i live in western washington in graham and need some help to start me off
hunting a different animal besides elk and deer.

like great places to hunt, tips and strategies, anything.

i dont have a dog so itll be pretty tough retrieving birds in ice cold water i guess but for now i got to know how the duck hunting thing all goes.

can you give me any advice?

the most basic things you would need to start off would a shotgun, a pair of waders, and a dozn mallard decoys(just about everything will decoy into mallards).

you might try looking hart lake. i know there are a couple spots you can hunt on that and try looking around kapowsin. i dont live over there but i have hunted over there a couple times.

Probably the best advice I could give is to find someone to go with a few times and learn a little....do you have a waterfowl hunting partner? you shoud find someone you can trust, and then set up some hunts with folks here....don't go hunting with anyone all by yourself.....the quickest way to learn is to be mentored.....if you would like to go on a E Wa hunt next year, I would be happy to show you some spots and how to do it.....we'll time it so I can take my daughter along with us.......Tim
