My son just finished his firearm safety and I want to get him in the field this weekend to look for a turkey. I know a lot of the eastern wa units are open. Looking for some good public land/private land to take him on. Anyone have any good leads? Know anybody that would let a kid come hunt? Anything appreciated.

Might wait until the spring season when they can be called in. Right now I'd think about taking your son either waterfowl hunting or coyote hunting. Just something to think about. I don't know much about turkey hunting in the fall, but I don't think it's something that's very easy to be successful at for a first time hunter. And Colville is a long drive!

I could probably get you on a piece up in Pend Oreille County. There are hundreds (literally) of birds there. It's a cattle pasture with animals still on pasture, you would have to be ABSOLUTELY sure not to shoot anywhere near a cow.

Good map of public access.

Yea that would be great!! I'd be with him every step of the way in the field. Ive got a buddy that was suppose to help us out and get onto some property out of spokane, but that seems to be falling through for the time being
