Got this elk last day @ 6:15 or so
We went down a dead end road that was blocked by concrete blocks to call and hope a bull would answer back in the last hours of light. I let out a spike bugle and a few cow calls hoping to hear something. A few seconds after I heard a crack and a cow so I flipped on the camera and my dad and I split up going off each side of the finger. The ferns were chest high so I calf/cow called on my way to the end of the finger. Before I knew it there was an elk standing in front of me at 10 yards behind a tree with just enough showing to shoot. Found it 80 yards away of course at the bottom of the hill.

Better late than never. Good eating there . .. way better than the tag I'm fixing to make soup out of.
Seriously big sword fern there. An elephant could hide in that stuff!
