I haven't tried for it yet, I pretty much hunt the same areas every year (Eastside) but one of these years in the near future I need to get my name on the roster  ;)

Never tried... however, I have killed both a Merriams and a Rio in the same season several times.  Generally, if after I get my 2 birds on the east side I go hunt Idaho or just take people out and call for em.  Awful far to go when I can just drive 30 min and hunt ID.

I usually just go for two merriams. I just love to hunt gobbling turkeys, no matter the species. But I will do that one of these years. I was with my dad on his eastern hunt to complete the slam, but it didn't work out. We were on some birds, but the only one we saw we jumped it. It was a big gobbler, and he could have shot it out of the air, but he didn't want to kill one like that. Oh well. Always another year.

This should be on "The one that got away" thread. The first time that I ever went turkey hunting was on the west side for Easterns. I scouted for 3 weeks before the season and got all set up on opening morning. Started calling and had my decoy out. I called for about 2 hours and got bored. Picked everything up and went for a little walk. Came back to the original spot about 30 minutes later and there were two toms standing where my decoy was. They saw me a blew out of there.

It still kills me to think that I came that close to harvesting the hardest bird on my first hunt. I've killed numerous Rio's and Merriams since.

Wac, Yelp is there a time limit on the multi season or is it just whenever you happen to get lucky number three?
I'm still needing a Rio for my multiyear.

Best advice I ever got from an Old turkey hunter was when you decide to move.....wait ten more minutes. I wonder if I truly listened to that I'd still be under a tree some where counting to ten :P But your case always seems to be the rule. Know my Dad did that a couple years back on an eastern, he sat in one spot for three hours hadn't heard athing. Finally nature called so loud he had to get up when he did the Tom was behind him about 30 yards busted. Next day same spot he sits for two hours with out hearing a word as he gets up to move notices the tom noticing him on the road 75 yards away...busted. Wish those buggers would anounce their arrival once in a while ;)

No time limit that I am aware of.  Just need to get all three in state, whatever year(s) it happens.

Wow... nice!  How was it hunting Ocellated turkeys?  Most folks get all their US birds before venturing to Mex and/or Central Am to get their Goulds and Ocellated.  Post some photos of that bugger.

Both hunts were very fun.  Combined I hunted for about 45 minutes on the 2 hunts.  The goulds was about 24 lbs and 11.5" beard.  The oscellated was around 8 lbs and had 2"x1.75" spurs.  Will work on the pics.

The Goulds hunt was with Carlos Herosillo. Hunt was fun, drove 75 miles on dirt roads and slept on the ground at camp. Looked like it was the first time they had camped there.  Hunted maybe 10 minutes. Mexico is a shady place. www.huntmexico.com

The oscellated hunt was with Manuel Garcia.  First class man.  Very nice camp, great food, great mayan guides, takes very good care of you.  Also hunted may 15 miuntes for turkey.  Hunted 4 days for brockett deer but nothing.  I will be going back for brockett deer.  www.wingshootersafaris.com
