Finally remembered to put the camera in the truck.
Caught this nice Tom and a stinky little civet today, I'll try and post some more pics as the season progresses.

good work

Cultusman is the "one who shall remain unnamed" as far as the cats are concerned.
Save a couple for the noobs in the valley.
Nice start!

Nice work

Nice job! I quit posting pics of cats in the cage on here, I was informed it doesn't looked good for the trapping community and is fuel for the activist folks for there fight against us.. It's unfortunate what is becoming of today's society.

Ummmmm...... By whom?
-
Uneducated people to put it nicely. My trapping mentor once told me it's better to be secret squirrel as to what they don't know won't kill em.
-
I love seeing pictures of successful trappers and their trophies, epecially with the animal in the trap and also the victory pose holding the animal up. Call me uncouth, but I like it.
-
Oh I like it too believe me, I've just learned to pick my battles

:yeah:
These threads would be a little bland with out those pics. Thank you for sharing. This should be a place we can post these type of things. I hate the idea of walking on egg shells for the anti's. We should be proud of what we do and be able to share our success with our fellow trappers/hunters

Nice cat!!

I keep an eye out for inappropriate pictures but to tell the truth I rarely see anything posted I have a problem with. The few I have not liked were really fine but needed an explanation.
A common problem has been people posting a fish in a trap. There is nothing wrong with something like that if it is made known that it was released. Something like that can be viewed negatively by someone uninformed about trapping.
As for a nice catch picture the person that will complain about it is never going to like trapping. Those pictures do spark a lot of interest in trapping. Witness all those Alaska Shows and Mountain man shows. Been a tremendous amount of people decide to get involved in trapping since those came out and they show some of the most inappropriate things. Makes me cringe sometimes.
So post away I say.

Sounds good bruce

Got another nice Tom this morning until I got to looking at him and noticed a large scar on his back.
The scar has been healing for a while,it looks fresh but actually feels like leather.
My guess is he was hit by a car,he was trapped 50yds off a county rd.
-
Nice catch. To bad about the hide.
-
Nice catch. To bad about the hide.
The girlfriend wants a bobcat vest so the hide will get tanned and used.
-
That's a bummer. Atleast it's not useless
-
looks like a nice color though.
-
I'd rather see a picture of the money catch......the civet.
-
Nice catch !

Nice Cats.

Well here ya go. These little stinkers ate a hind quarter of a beaver in one night out of one of my cat sets so I doubled up on em. Nice big male and a small female
-
Those are cool I've never caught one or seen one but they sound like a pain kinda like grinners
-
Nice!!!! What is the fur like on spotted skunks?

Did you make those traps?
-
Did you make those traps?
I have 4 of these.
-
Did you make those traps?
Yes I made them, some have pans and some are pull triggers.
If anybody needs some 6 inch pvc pipe I can get it free.

Nice!!!

You have to take care when fleshing. It is real easy to pull the hair through thus damaging them. Some of them will even have spots where the hairs are through to the skin side like an unprimed pelt only more so. It will appear black and you must be careful around that. This seems to happen any time of the season on some so it is not just a primeness thing.
Smaller ones especially are fairly thin furred but if you get a big old male they will have a pretty nice fur.
Interesting thing with the skulls I sold last year. 85% were deformed from a bad sinus infection. Did not effect the value but they had an extra hole in the skull near the eyes.
The bigger ones are easier to skin IMO. Skinning the claws on the little ones is a bit ticklish.
Speaking of ticklish I made a boo boo removing the glands from one today. Let's just say my no spray trap didn't save me.

Got a nice triple today, all three cats were caught within a few hundred yards of each other. They were all hanging around some salmon spawning ponds. One of them is a Big Boy.

What do you use to flesh them? A spoon?
No, just a dull two handled fleshing knife. The back of the neck can be tough but you can flesh it backwards there and it comes off pretty good.
-
Beautiful cats!!!!
-
How do you get such nice pictures of the cat inside the trap? Do you open the door partway and snap it? Or do you have a camera that pokes through the wire?
-
WOW. Great job. I just want one Kitty.
-
This is why we had such a good grouse year.lol
Cultus has been cleaning up all of the cats!
Too bad you can't trap all of the lions too. Nice job

Nice Work
-
 I've got a couple cat cages out in the lower elevations but no luck so far :dunno:
So I'm going head back up high. Good job on the cats my cages are only 36" long
-
Are all your cat cages pan triggers ?
-
Looks like you had a good day as well !
-
Are all your cat cages pan triggers ?
Most of them are, got a few pull triggers, some are swing down doors, some are guillotine doors.
They all work, but I like the lightest ones best.
-
Yes, light ones are defiantly the best :chuckle:. Whats the most bobcat you have trapped in a year cultus man?
-
I caught 18 last season
-
Added one more to the scoreboard today. Going to be my last cat for the season, time to go do some water trapping.
-
Pretty cat!!
-
Big cat, any idea of weight?
-
Glad to see your continued success with the cats. I'm in the throws of an epic dry spell.
-
Big cat, any idea of weight?
It was about 25lbs, just your average nice one.
-
Good looking cat !
-
Beautiful cat
-
Cultusman, you are quite the bobcat trapper. Pretty amazing stuff there.
-
Great looking cat
-
Some nice cats.
What are the prices doing this year? I have heard they are pretty low.
-
Did a little water trapping on the river, had five sets out and came home with 3 fifty pound beavers and one muskrat that plugged up a good beaver set.
Boat trapping is the way to go for beaver, fifty feet was as far as I had to pack one out :)
-
nice job
-
Awesome, I was thinking the same thing with the big boy I packed out yesterday. Glad it was only a little over 100 yards!!
-
sounds like it may be worth taking a pack frame in to make it a little easier.
-
Those are gret pictures cultsman  someday when I get the time thats how I want to do it.....float the river. Keep the pictures comming.
-

Thats what I use. For packing "A" trap, and packing beaver, and otter out.
-
Nice work ! I bet that boat was a life saver packing those big hogs around !
-
I hope you dont lose any traps from the high river
