Yes you did!  We let them pass, but they still need to be managed.

I hate cleaning ringnecks and bluebills, but they sure are fun to shoot.

Thanks guys!

Actually was doing some duck ID'ing on the furthest left (hen). What do you think, hen redhead? Bird on wing I was thinking hen ring neck, in hand I saw the lack of ring on beak so I was thinking scaup. Now looking it up it looks like a hen redhead.

Any ideas?

I'm far from an expert,  But the experts say the only true way to tell is by looking at their wings.  I don't know how their wings are supposed to look so I can't help you.  But if I had to guess looking at your ohotos, I'd say hen redhead.  The light band around the eyes is common for redheads.  She also looks slightly larger than the ringnecks.  Lastly, have you cleaned them yet? Was she easier to skin? If so, you're probably dealing with a hen redhead.
Geary job regardess.
God bless.

Looks like a hen Greater Blue Bill. Maybe a bit on the light side color wise but then again, yesterday two of the greater drake BB we shot weren't completely colored up yet. Hen Redhead is a possibility though.

The hen blue bills would have white patchs under the eyes. Looks like a redhead.

Redhead head -

I'm surprised that no one has given you grief for shooting it without positive ID.

After researching a few pics on line I'd have to agree that it's a hen Redhead.

Lady redhead.  I shot a drake redhead with a band when I lived in Wyoming.  Called it in and was surprised to find it had been ID'ed as a hen when it was banded in Idaho.  Even the pros get it wrong sometimes.

Do i remember a 2 Ringneck drake limit from last year? I know this year limits of all blackjacks are legal, and man it shows. I have seen more ring neck drakes this year than ever in my life, more than mallards even which is unusual for where I hunt. Good shootin OP!
