The boy got a new rifle and we need to get some glass on it now. This will be coyotes and just fun shooting. We are trying to get into more long range stuff. I would like to zero it in at 200 yards and have the ability (the gear that is) to shoot 400 yards.

Its all about budget but Leupold VX 3 4.5-14 CDS or if you want to hold over with dial Vortex Viper HST 4-16

My 22-250 has the Zeiss rapid Z 1000 varmint, it is actually designed for that caliber. The glass is really nice. I shoot the ballistic tips running 3550fps, which matches the stadia lines perfect. Longest dog with that gun is 580 yds., but that is really stretching that bullet. He will love that caliber. Can't really go wrong with any of them, there are some really nice scopes on the market today.

I do a lot of coyote calling and use the 22-250 in the open country. Mine wears a 2.5-10 Elite 4200 and stays on 2x most of the time. Ive had far more under 50 yard shots than those approaching 300 yards.
I have other rifles for paper and LR work with higher power scopes. For hunting rifles I like à scope with at least a 40' FOV on the bottom end as I like to get as close to game as possible rather than stretch shots, I have a personal limit of 300 yards and always prefer less. I would rather let one walk and come back another day than wound one way out there.

Got a millet lrs-1 5x25 on my 22-250, for the money I am happy with it
