Just got info that a hunter has been missing since yesterday from Spokane. He was hunting down south of St John on the river. Somewhere off of Delong rd and Mulkey rd. They went looking for him today and found his pickup and his dog by the pickup but he isn't around. He may have went into the water. They have a chopper assisting in the search as well. Hopefully they find him. It was cold last night.

Man I hope this turns out better than it looks.
-
Oh no :'(
Seems like we're getting more of these events this year.
Straight to the gut
-
Hopefully the dog can help find him. Prayers for his safe recovery.
-
The dog being back at the truck worries me.

That's never a good sign I hope they find him
-
Oh man!!! That is no good....maybe he fell in a hole and broke his leg! Hopefully they find him alive. Prayers for the family!
-
Dang ...doesn't sound good at all ... We can only pray he is found and well !
-
Well there is enough snow up above the canyon for there to be tracks but it's a South facing bluff so he might not have left tracks everywhere. I would think you could follow his tracks in the snow. :dunno: Hopefully they don't go to the ice on the water. I haven't been down to the river this winter but it does freeze over in a lot of places.
-
Too bad.
Buy a PLB fella's.. Cheap insurance if you hunt by yourself like I do..
-
Oh no! It does seem like there have been a lot more stories of guys being hurt/lost/injured this season.

I can't seem to find anything on the newswires about this, nor on the Spokane County Sheriff page. You would think that it would make the news if he has been missing since yesterday.

Just a sheriff's log report for a missing person. I don't think they know anything except he's missing so far. So no news yet.
-
The search chopper just went north towards Spokane and some of the search team came back into town. No word yet.
-
Keeping him and his family in my thoughts and prayers. Hope this story ends well; we've had way too many end poorly this winter.

I saw it this morning on my facebook. I don't remember who but it might have been Pullman or Lewiston radio/tv/newspaper that posted it. I don't think it was one of the Spokane news outlets.

I got word they found his body. I'll update what I find out.

:'(
-
Dang. So sorry for the family. :'(
Be safe out there guys and gals. I can't believe that it's me saying it but be safe in the field.

Terrible news, sad.
-
Man we have seen too many of these this year already. Sad, sad, stuff.
-
very sad. What ever happened with the hunter that was missing near king city a month or two ago?
-
Very sad.
-
Then there was this today.

As a side note, I hunted a couple years at a wheat/cattle ranch between St John and Endicott in the very area where the hunter on the Palouse disappeared. River must be up, because it wasn't very deep when I was hunting there.
-
Sad.

This is sad news. Prayers to the family. I was hunting along the Palouse last weekend and it was too high for me to cross in most spots. All the birds I jumped flew across. It looked like some deep holes in a lot of the slow water.

I happen to work only 6 miles from this place. Joe Delong is one of our customers. I guess I got misinformed on the dog being at the rig. Either way I feel like when the search crew went out the night before at around 10:00 they should have followed the water's edge. If nothing else it would serve as a border to the search area and narrow your field. Suck's that this happened to this guy and hopefully people will better understand how dangerous the water is in weather like this.

Scotty was a great guy and will be missed. He is a family member of mine.

I hope you guy's stay strong. He must have been doing something he loved I'm guessing? Make sure that dog of his get's to continue a great life along with the family. I was told he stayed with him through it all. I wanted to leave work yesterday and help just by having another set of eye's out there but they said he was already found by that time. Didn't wanna post it on here for fear of alarming family that might read it before the authorities notified them. It's a small community here in Saint John and everyone was concerned for his safety.
-
Dang it ..that really is sad ! Just never know what could happen out there !

Sorry to hear unfortunate news on any of these accidents. Prayers and condolences to all the families.
JJB11BB, I think your referring to the man that went missing near Royal city. He unfortunately was also found deceased. I believe they said at the time it appeared he had fallen.

Falling into rain swollen rivers is bad even for the best swimmers, you don't realize the strength of the currant until you've been in something like that. All it takes is the currant to pin you into a sweeper or a log jam or even a steep bank and you're a goner.
We see a lot of accidents like this every summer and fall in Alaska and many are even wearing flotation devices.
-
Sorry to hear this, as I am sure many others were I was hoping for better news. This type of things seems to be on the rise lately with hunters and outdoorsmen. Be careful out there people, I doubt any of these guys set out to have an issue so pay attention to your surroundings and perhaps invite a friend or make new one(s). There was a mention on here last week about how hard hunting partners are to find, so often they are worth the effort.
Be careful, think about what you are planning and actually doing and let's not have these kinds of posts next year.
RIP to the hunter.
