There are a few dandy bulls at Oak Creek. One bull in the corner pasture by Hwy 12 and 410 had eight points on one side. My does anyone have some images they want to share of these bulls?
-
Fairly decent frontal of him with my cell phone camera. Bones master 8 picture is a very similar bull.
-
There are lots there. have stopped by a couple times but haven't photos them. I'll try to hook you up.
-
Anybody else like droopy's looks? I'd do a shoulder mount on him if I were to shoot him.
-
I noticed him right away. Unique bull for sure.
-
Love the tips!

I see.............I was looking for something more esoteric, I guess.

I got pictures of droopy as well but I didn't see the 8 point bull when I was there. Some good bulls there but I didn't see any monster bulls. I also noticed that the elks bodies at oak creek are all smaller than the elk in the blues.

So are those bulls safe now or can the natives still get them?

I'm not sure the natives know they are there. :chuckle:

Hey I Know him I saw Droopy Bull with 4 days left in Rifle season Just Up out of Carroll Flats Unfortunately no Big Bull Tag He and I had a Close encounter @30 ft, he came slowly around a bunch of firs along a well established run in the ridge just at Daybreak. I Had already heard twigs snapping lightly so I took a Knee ready to shoot and it was him. He Is quite the Bull. I hope he lives a long time and sires a lot of calves

I like it.

So can you tell how the herd is doing sense the snow has pushed them down compared to other years?
-
I haven't noticed anything. Some awfully young calves in the welfare line. There are more elk down in the lowlands than I have seen in a long time.
-
There are a ton that haven't ventured in yet to,the haypile

Three or four years ago I saw one with spots, it was crazy.
-
I did too Rainier. I imagine that in the wild, they'd be coyote scat. Not sure sometimes how good the welfare program is for the herd.
-
From this weekend.

retied officer Bruce Richards told me this recently. He responded to a call in late December in 2014 or 2013, I can't remember which one, where two big Bulls were fighting in a west side private back yard. When he showed up, one of the Bulls had to be put down because of his wounds. He personally talked about seeing more late, late breeding than he's ever seen. It's interesting

That calf gave you away, feeding elk from your hand to get him to recognize you in 6 or 7 years and come running. :chuckle:

I was in Washington this week and stopped by to look. Weather was dreary and the light sucked for photos but I took a few anyway.

Do they still do the tour on the truck at oak creek?
-
Yes

May 1 is on a Sunday this year. Wonder how long the line will be? Almost every year I view the bulls at Joe Watt and think 'yeah, antlers for everyone' come opening day I am lucky if I find one.

He's a pig to be sure. I need to buy a long range lens. Anyone got a deal on a telephoto for my Nikon D80?
-
I worked in Ellensburg last week and was excited to go to Joe Watt but it was dark every day by the time I got off work. I was kind of glad not to see any by Vantage on my way through. Sounds like they have had a bunch hit on the interstate there.
