I picked up a new gun.
I've been fondling it. It's still virgin.
I might take it out tomorrow and fire it some.
-
Well do tell
-
Go easy on the new bore.
-
My first Glock...
Glock 20 in 10mm Automatic (near .41mag performance, and 15 + 1 rounds)
I plan to mill out the slide (just forward of the rear sight) and install a Leupold DeltaPoint Pro 2.5 MOA Red dot optic. I hoping to use it for blackbear hunting.

It will be a cool set up! Going with the milling is way better than just a standard mount, the standard mount is a little high for me and it takes a little getting used to but with a RMR the Glock 21 is super fast and accurate.

They make the Glock 40 MOS, but i thought it was to long (6" barrel vs. 4.6" barrel on the G20), so I'm just going to put the optic on the shorter G20.

Cool pic sequence. The G21 is the 4.6" .45 Auto correct? Where did you get the milling done? I've inquired with Lonewolf but haven't heard anything back yet.
-
The 21 is the standard full size. I have shot the heck out of the long slide 41 (.45 ACP). I put 300 rounds through it the first outing. It pointed well and of course shot hassle free. The 41 is the .45 ACP counterpart to the 40. The model 40 is just more of a good thing!

Yep, bear in the dirt is the goal. I'm just tired of lugging a rifle all over... I think if I call one inside of 50 yards I should be good.

It isn't milled, it's a standard mount. That's why I said you having yours milled is a better option and sets the sight a little lower. Which I feel helps accros the board in how the handgun performs.

Grizz Precision does some hotrod Glock mods and will do the milling for you. Their a site sponsor at the top of the forum.

Jay. Sharkbait may jump in with some of the work he's done on Glocks there. Milling , cool slide work etc.

Nice collection. Is that a stainless Super Redhawk? I've always lusted for one of those. I regret selling my stainless 6" Security Six (.357 Mag).

For sure a good bullet and 50-75 yards should be very doable.

Yes, it's a super RedHawk. One I fell into literally about two years ago. A guy was trying to sell it locally at the gun shops. None were interested so I followed him to the parking lot and asked what he wanted for it. When it was said and done He sold me the handgun with a silver Burris scope mounted, a cross chest holster and two boxes of ammo for $450.00 cash...

I love the 10mm but I just can't learn to love the Glocks. Be sure to put a heavy spring and a fully supported barrel in there if you really want to run the 10mm at full power.

They're going to be out for a while. The guys deployed a few weeks ago but should be back late spring.

Picked up a G20 Gen4 10 a couple months ago myself from Carpsniperg2 or maybe I should call him the "Godfather" because he made me a deal I couldn't refuse.
You gotta be careful with those Glocks though, they multiply like rabbits because before I knew it, I had a G17 Gen4 sitting right beside it. Darndest thing you ever saw, it just multiplied there all on its own. At least that's what I told my wife. :chuckle:

So what holster or rig do you guys use with a red dot mounted?

LOL, Kind of like AR's...
Not anytime soon for me though. I have to pick up an optic that is the cost of a new gun...

I was thinking of something like this, for woods carry, as the G20 isn't really for concealed carry:
http://www.code3tactical.com/blackhawk-tactical-serpa-level-3-holster.aspx
Although, it looks like that particular rig would need some modification. Or maybe there is one that is more suited, but in the same concept. I haven't really decided yet though.

I noticed jay.s was on here today replying in another thread. I PM'd him. We'll see what he has to say...
I was finally able to get out and fire the weapon. It's not a virgin anymore. LOL. I was a little underwhelmed. Although I'm only firing 180s at ~1000fps. The once fired brass was a little perplexing... When a new cartridge is dropped into the chamber, there is really a lot of wiggle room, and consequently the fired cases show some bulging. Ill have to get out the calipers and maybe take some pics. More concerning is that the primers were really flattened (and that is with the supposed "light" load).
Dies, brass, and projectiles are on the brown truck, so I should be able make some hotter ones.
Thanks everyone for the comments.

Looks like the Glock G20 MOS (Modular Optic System) with the Delta Point Pro is coming together...
I've seen pistols with red dot optics and thought that would be cool. I been thinking about a pistol in 10mm... Obviously, there are more powerful handguns like the .44 mag, 500S&W, etc... but I like Autoloaders and high capacity magazines - over 6 shot revolvers. You never know when you'll come across a crap load of zombies, aliens, or a bunch of marauding satsquach(s) or even a pack of wolves.
I learned about the Glock 20, in 10mm and with 15 + 1 rounds. I said to myself, "self, that pretty bad azzz". Then I heard about the Glock 40, in 10mm with the MOS configuration. I wasn't really that excited with the long slide/barrel, but I like the idea of the MOS configuration.
I then read about the Leupold Delta Point Pro. What a nice optic. It seems like it's coming together. The plan is to mill out the G20, mount the MOS Plate, mount the Delta Point on there... fire, reload, repeat.
Delta Point Pro:
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi632.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fuu48%2Fsamckernan%2FIMAG4974_zpsepvtmdfr.jpg%7Eoriginal&hash=11c706fcbad7827c320002d381576d06fbbacb08) (http://s632.photobucket.com/user/samckernan/media/IMAG4974_zpsepvtmdfr.jpg.html)
The G40 would have been easier, the slide is milled out, the MOS Plate pops on... I've heard that the plates that Glock puts out will not work with the Delta Point Pro vs Delta Point. I ordered the plate set #2, that are supposedly for the G40. I'm hoping it works. Another wrinkle is that the slide for the G40 is different than the G20 slide (and I'm not talking about the obvious slide length). The rear sight dove tail for the G40 is a lot farther back than the dove tail of the G20. I'm thinking I'd have to mill out the entire rear sight dove tail, and have a dovetail milled in front of the Delta Point.
I played with a drafting program (SketchUp) and modeled up a Glock 20 Slide and the MOS Plate (#8) and put the Delta Point on top of that, and also the suppressor sight in front of that with the suppressor sight post at the muzzle. The measurement of the Delta Point and the MOS Plate #8 seem to work. I'll have to try it when the plates come in (any day now).
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi632.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fuu48%2Fsamckernan%2FGlock%252020%2520with%2520Delta%2520Point%2520Pro%2520001_zpsqdtkivif.jpg%7Eoriginal&hash=6c263b949718d6b1998b8881f9878bfd82e0dbd6) (http://s632.photobucket.com/user/samckernan/media/Glock%2020%20with%20Delta%20Point%20Pro%20001_zpsqdtkivif.jpg.html)
I'm kind of committed now, I hope the MOS plate works, if not, I'm not opposed to just milling out the slide just for the Delta Point Pro.
I'm getting anxious, like a kid before Christmas
If anyone has any insight on this project, feel free to share...
I need to find a machine shop that can do the machining work. If anyone knows anyone that is able to do pistol slide milling (local to the greater Seattle area) let me know.
thanks in advance...

I have a gen 4 g20. I am interested in trying out the new mos version. So far I have only killed a couple of raccoons with it. I would like to get a deer or coyote with it.

Just put this together a few weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Here's some inspiration for you! If you want to try out any other plates before you actually buy them let me know (as long as it's not the plate for trijicon)...

Did you get both plate sets:
Plate set #1 which includes plates #1 through #4.
https://store.teamglock.com/gun-parts/additional-items/mos-adapter-set-01-9mm-40-and-45.html
Plate set #2 which includes plates #5 through#8
https://store.teamglock.com/gun-parts/additional-items/mos-adapter-set-02-10mm.html#
or did you only get plate set #2 (which are supposedly G40 specific)?
I'd take you up on your offer, but probably don't really need to, as I already ordered plate set #2. It should be here any day now. Thanks anyway though. Also, thanks for the picture. That G40 looks sweet. I personally just couldn't warm up to the long slide...
Another option that I'm considering is just getting an after market slide (Lone Wolf) and having them mill it specifically for the Delta Point Pro. That way I don't have to mill the OEM Stock Glock 20 slide.
Edit: Lone Wolf doesn't sell Glock 20 Gen4 slides, so that idea is out...
Thanks...

Glock reliable loading is a slightly loose chamber. After market barrels are tighter. I have a 6 inch barrel from Storm Lake for my g20 that is a tighter chamber. Would like to replace my g20 with a g40.
