That would be a fun hunt to get 5 guys together on.  Looks like good success with archery equipment as well.  I'd love to shoot one with my bow. :archery_smiley:

It should be possible with a bow.  It's a pretty small place, 440 acres

The pictures of the pigs posted were both shot with a bow

I stuck one with a bow down there in like 05' or 06'. You will have a pleathera of opportunities. I you don't something, it is simply because you decided not to. It's kind of creepy have them run through the sage brush in front of you.

Another thing about this hunt just like the buffalo, mouflon, and pig is if there is a reason you are unsuccessful which I would doubt you don't pay you can bring a rifle just in case you can't hit one

No license or tags it's a private ranch so give me some dates that would work for you and will call the owner

Very interested in doing this, me and the wife have considered a pig hunt together for a while now. We're hitting disneyland the end of may and I was trying to sneak in a hog hunt for me and my family since we're driving down 8). Anyways this seems like a reasonable offer considering the distance and cost is effective with fuel at a all time low. Is there anyone with any personal reviews on here? My wife is looking to put her first animal down and my daughter is always up for an adventure. Curious as to non hunters coming as well? (I have a 5yr old who in would like to tag along)

MLBowhunting can give you some information if you are interested YOU have to CALL tomorrow and it's based on a quota so if you call early enough all of you can get pigs. Remember for some reason you don't get one you don't pay but I'm not seeing that as a problem. Please tell him I sent you I do this for you guys and it's same price I don't make anything just want people out shooting animals. Call Richard at 208-886-7072

Pulled the trigger on this for me and my wife at the end of may. I think it'll be a fun hunt. She has been hunting with a bow for the last 3 seasons and had close calls but no luck. I would really want her to harvest an animal with her bow just to get her confidence back up. I'll be taking my bow. And if all else fails I'll be packing a rifle just for the hell of it. Thanks for the heads up shooting stix! I'll post about the adventure when the time comes.

I called him at 4pm yesterday to get the low down. And he told me to call at midnight, that was when he said he would be booking hunts. Then I wasn't sure if I was midnight pacific time or mtn time, so I called back. It was mtn time so 11pm pacific. I started calling right as the clock rolled over. Immediately busy. Kept calling to no avail, quickly downloaded a robo redial in app on my phone and let it go to town till I heard someone answer! Felt like one of those people that win a radio contest. By 11:15, all weekends in april were booked. And the soonest saturday was may 21st which we settled on. Gonna call later today to see if it's not too late to add a person to our hunting party.

These are a couple pigs of pigs coming out of Idaho I wished I knew he was taken calls at midnight otherwise I would have let you guys know but hopefully next year I just want to see hunters being successful and meat in the freezer. A lot of hunters hunt their butt off during elk and deer season not counting scouting before the season and not have any meat so I will come up with fun hunts that are more geared for filling the freezer good luck in 2016

Big thanks to Shooting Stix for posting this thread up. Without it I would have never known about this hunt. I've tried a few times to post a longer thread about the whole experience but everytime I don't finish it apparently my session times out and I have to start over. Stay tuned in the other big game section. But in the mean time here's the pictures of my pig.

We tried to get my wife the perfect shot with her bow most of the day and it just wouldn't happen. It got late in the day and we didn't want to come home empty handed. This one stopped on the run a little too long and I put one in its neck with the ar10 and dropped it in its tracks. Long story short.

That is an awesome European wild boar I am glad someone was lucky enough to get a chance to go and enjoy themselves especially during the off season it's nice to get in camo and get in the woods whether it's a high fenced hunt or doing some predator hunting. I am hoping this time next year huntwa members will be posting a bunch of wild boar pictures from the same ranch

Who knows? The thread had a whole month of no response. So, I give 50/50 that someone actually attempted and actually got a booking.

I got it booked up! Had a reminder on my Google calendar since I paid him for my pig last year. We were the last group there I believe and we'll be the last group this year.

How do these animals eat??  Are they similar to a domestic pig taste or do they carry a separate taste based on the feed in the area?

They don't taste funky or like sage to me.  They do forage but they are also provided feed. Prepared it is leaner than your grocery store pork or even farm raised. I'm not much of a pork snob but it was just as good as any other pork I've had. With the exception of being leaner. Makes for great sausage meat, but not so much a rack of ribs since it's so lean.

Again I am not a pork snob so pork is pork for the most part to me. I'm Filipino and I was raised eating just about every part of a pig you can use including the blood so I guess you can say my opinion would be a little different.

More like my wife has got all the luck. She was the one to get through the phone lines and pass me the phone. I booked for 6 people memorial day weekend and we're splitting up the hogs, 3 saturday and 3 sunday so everyone can enjoy the hunt and watch each other get the pigs. Might have my kids with me this time to so if my daughter is on her best behavior I'll let her take my hog instead.

Main goal this time is to get my wife her first kill. She didn't have the right opportunity last year with her bow. And this fall will be 5 years without a single animal since she started hunting. So I really want to keep the wind in her sails before she looses motivation. I will make a thread and update as the time comes. Hoping for fair weather and a better drone by then to film.
