You really need to get out and start shooting some trap and/or some skeet. It really helps. I got into trap when I was in high school and we used to go out and shoot every Tuesday night. It was a lot of fun and sure improved my success in shooting ducks and other birds.

What he said with passing and other angles.

Most miss at any angled shots because they stop swinging as they pull the trigger.  Come from behind, maintain speed, and shoot as you cover the bird.  (Don't go there pervs...well normal people) :chuckle: :chuckle:  Your swing speed will compensate for the birds speed as long as you don't stop on the shot.  Deffinately don't try to hold out in front and guess.

quit aiming and start pointing...don't stop your swing and bring your gun to the target and squeeze the trigger. also pattern your gun to make sure you're shooting where you think you are.

p.s. i think the coolest way to shoot ducks is when they are landing with their wings cupped. thats how you know you did everything right.

I second the stop aiming like jackelope said, and only watch the bird, never aim then look for the bird, your natural gun placement will be there in time but keep your eyes off the sights all together and just watch the birds, everything else will just happen !!

:yeah:
And as said before get out and pratice trap, skeet, 5 stand or sporting clays, you do not need to get a fancy compition gun you can use a field gun. And when a range ask for tip or pointers.
Best of luck :hunt2:
