Had a 30 year old 3X9 that had seen it's better day. Still worked fine, but was pretty rough around the edges and a new set of rings I tried somehow must of deformed the tube a little and the magnification ring quit turning smoothly. Though not a mechanical failure, I sent it in to see if they could fix it for me at a reasonable cost. I get a box back a few weeks later with a brand new scope... how's that for a "Thank you for your patronage!"
I've sent in numerous scopes for repair or work and never been disappointed, or ever had to argue with them over something.
Customer service second to none!
Thanks Leupold

That s great! Which one did they send?
-
 Sent in a pair of binos with the twist out eye cups that would not twist out and they replaced them with the same.
-
They just replaced it with the VX 2. Nothing fancy, but probably still a step up from the shape mine was in.
-
You got a great deal then. The new VX-2 is a better scope than even the old Vari X-III.
-
Leupold has great customer service. They have taken care of me well over the years, which I can't say for some of the other optics companies I have dealt with.
-
Good deal, and good customer service!👍

You hear that a lot.

Leupold is a awesome company. I have had well over 50 leupolds scopes and only had one that I got very used fail. It was a old fixed 4x. I sent it in and they sent me a new vx2.
I had one eye cup fail on my Olympic binos. Sent it in and they sent me a new pair of Mojave's same power. I was kinda bummed as the binos worked great and had hunted a ton of states and even foreign countries with me. I had a lot of history with them lol.

The vortex cult all think this is something new, but leupold's been doing it for a very long time
-
I use Leopold because I need my optics to work when I'm out on a hunting trip. Vortex super warranty does me no good with broken glass on a hunting trip.

That's the same reason I don't use Leupold.
I own lots of Nikon high-end glass and know nothing about their customer service.
I've heard it's good.

After shooting scopes for nearly 50 years and owning a sports shop in the 1970's, I've only had to send two scopes in because they went bad, both Leupolds, that said I still use 3 or 4 regularly just because they are the best I can afford in that nitch.

BINGO!!! Along with Vortex's BS excuses and excessive wait for return policy ( 3 weeks ) plus. I can send a Leupold in, have turrets installed and a reticle change and have it back in ten days or less. Vortex strokes fixing their products faults for 3 weeks plus, twice. Once is enough for me, twice closes the deal. I could care less what others shoot but I will never park another "Cotex" on a rifle of mine.

I have sent back, 3-1, more Leopold over the years for customers. And true, probably more out there on guns then any other brand. Warranties are pretty even across the board...Vortex brings it up a notch for their no-fault. Leupold has always been fairly quick, on turn around as most are..
-
If I send them a Nikon will they send me back a leupold ?
-
If I send them a Nikon will they send me back a leupold ?
Not if you're lucky.

Leupold's service is top notch. They;ve gone above and beyond for me twice, both of which were my fault for breaking it or losing pieces.

My sister bought a Nikon Monarch 6.5-20x50 and IMO its a pile of crap! My dad also has a pair of Monarch binos and my cheap Vortex Diamond backs are every bit as good. As for the wait on Vortex, my brother had a minor issue with his binos and took them back to sportsmans and they just traded him out a set.

Why did you guys turn this into a bash thread? Does it make you feel better about "your" brand? This thread started out very positive and now it's just a pissing match. Nice work.

It's funny how quickly it happened too. They are both awesome companies, Vortex and Leopold (Nikon too if that's what you're into)
Vortex isn't a cult...it's a stellar company. So is Leupold.

In my experience, and it is considerable, I used to manage the largest volume retail hunting/shooting sports counter in the south Puget Sound: Leupold, Vortex & Swarovski cannot be beat, most others are pretty darn good and a few are just not in the same league. Leupold has been the gold standard for the longest though. As for those who are not in the same class, we really don't need to concern ourselves with them - they are not really something anyone who is serious would consider owning in the first place.
