I saw this on a trip to Oregon...Would this detour other coyotes? Or is it a wolf??
-
Western tradition, kinda. When someone kills a Coyote on a Rancher's land, lots of times the rancher wants it hung in the fenceline. Not sure if it deters coyotes or just shows the land owners that you're getting a few killed.

I have see that lots! That looks like a wolf to me! If its not a wolf its a dam big male yote dog!
-
Ranchers appreciate it when you save a few more calfs by killing the dogs. Hanging on the fence shows them you got one for them. Kind of a tradition.
That is a coyote.

I saw this pic in the random photos, reminded me of this thread.

Don't know who's pic it is, but thought it was pretty good. :chuckle:

That's definetly a yotey in the top photo.
-
That is a huge yote. I think I missed one like that last week :(
-
Aren't we getting close to calving season? Is that in another month? I forget, been some time!

My Neighbor hunts in oregon on Private land and the rancher hangs every yote he shoots on the fence like that.

I've seen ranchers and small time farmers do that with birds and also yotes.
