If the August season is closed to rifle, I wont buy a hunting licence in WA next year. I'll be spending all of my hunting dollars out of state. Deer,elk,and bear in ID. Varmints in OR. and deer/black bear in SE AK. It will mean less time hunting for me, especially for yotes .

The species needs to be managed correctly. Taking away modern firearm from public land in August will not work and is an outrage. All hunters need to band together and fight this issue (And I am a bowhunter.). If we don't it is a victory for anti-hunters everywhere.

Bear hunting in August is my favorite hunt.

For me personally, I'm not going to keep waiting at the station, while the bus is already pulling away. Not a chance in hell thing's will stay the same forever. That is not giving in, that's just acknowledging that thing's do change. The best anyone can hope for in this situation is a compromise.

The writing is on the wall. They're basically rolling this change out. They had all last fall and this winter to think it over and they have decided. I don't think anything major will change from their proposal with regards to August bear hunting.You might be right but I'm not giving up. Loosing public land is the begining of the end. 3 years from now it could be public land during September archery.

It seems that there are many voicing concern over this being a loss of public lands issue. Where were these same people when W sold of hundred's of thousand's of acres of public lands and closed hunting refuges in the last few years, and that wasn't even related to any safety issue :dunno:. It's all mostly money related, this safety issue is just "convenient". The State wants to cut a ton of jobs in the DFW to make the budget, so many that to manage the current lands would be impossible. I think the fall out down the road would be closure, or the sale of more lands, stay tuned.

Their are more bears now than ever!!! Why do they want to restrict the hunting??? Well i know that answer, because of one mistake!!! Accidents are gonna happen in Sept. just as easy as Aug....Damn fools anyways!!!
the snarky part of me says lets wait until I hiker gets mauled..
