How many of you would support an August archery/muzzleloader bear season on public lands as a compromise to what has been proposed?
-
Nope. I want a regular bear season.
-
Nope, no compromise
-
Regular here also
-
Yes, Only if they were to restore tags taken away or add additional tags to what has been proposed.
-
I liked it the way it was.
-
I like it the way it has been, give them a inch and they will take a mile. :bash:
-
Bear hunting in August is my favorite hunt.
If the August season is closed to rifle, I wont buy a hunting licence in WA next year. I'll be spending all of my hunting dollars out of state. Deer, elk, and bear in ID. Varmints in OR. and deer/black bear in SE AK. It will mean less time hunting for me, especially for yotes .
-
I need all thwe time I can get with a rifle to find a bear. :chuckle:
-
Their are more bears now than ever!!! Why do they want to restrict the hunting??? Well i know that answer, because of one mistake!!! Accidents are gonna happen in Sept. just as easy as Aug....Damn fools anyways!!!
-
NO.
-
It sure would be a hell of a lot better than no bear season in august.
-
:bdid:
The species needs to be managed correctly. Taking away modern firearm from public land in August will not work and is an outrage. All hunters need to band together and fight this issue (And I am a bowhunter.). If we don't it is a victory for anti-hunters everywhere.
-
NO!!!! I am also complaining about the change in the Cougar regs!!!! I only see cougars in Aug. and Sept. when I am not actively pursuing deer and elk, now I can not hunt them with a rifle!!!!! >:( >:( until deer season starts. :bash: :bash:
-
No compromise with public land / rights
-
Why fix it if it aint broke? :dunno:
-
Nope it needs to stay the way it is.
-
I want the normal bear season, but I would take that over no bear season.

If we could get everyone to take just one year off the department would know we mean buisiness. Your strongest weopen in this case is your wallet!

Agreed
-
NO, we should not comprimise at all. :bdid:
-
NO COMPROMISE!!!!!!!!! We need to stand our ground!
-
Stand ground? You already lost it.
-
it is compromise if they plan to approach wdfw to keep aug beer alive for rifle.
-
The writing is on the wall. They're basically rolling this change out. They had all last fall and this winter to think it over and they have decided. I don't think anything major will change from their proposal with regards to August bear hunting.

+1
For me personally, I'm not going to keep waiting at the station, while the bus is already pulling away. Not a chance in hell thing's will stay the same forever. That is not giving in, that's just acknowledging that thing's do change. The best anyone can hope for in this situation is a compromise.
-
I'd like to see that question posed as; "the only alternative to no August bear hunting", and see how many turn their nose up at it. Ray is correct, they've discussed this for a long time now, though I do think there is still some hope of alternating uses and primitive weapon areas, the trouble is they are reading this right now and firming up their own stance. If they don't feel a compromise is even worth putting any effort into, it won't be offered. :bash:
-
It's all a dog and pony show about public input, they have already made up their mind and this input crap is just a formality. Tell me if I'm wrong, but what has been proposed is going to be set in stone here in a bit. The private property proposal is going to stick, you can bet your A@S on that.

You might be right but I'm not giving up. Loosing public land is the begining of the end. 3 years from now it could be public land during September archery.

It seems that there are many voicing concern over this being a loss of public lands issue. Where were these same people when W sold of hundred's of thousand's of acres of public lands and closed hunting refuges in the last few years, and that wasn't even related to any safety issue :dunno:. It's all mostly money related, this safety issue is just "convenient". The State wants to cut a ton of jobs in the DFW to make the budget, so many that to manage the current lands would be impossible. I think the fall out down the road would be closure, or the sale of more lands, stay tuned.
