Jim Shockey’s Canada ranch home has been robbed, and the family is asking for your help to apprehend the thieves!
It’s a terrible feeling, knowing your possessions have been stolen. Hunting icon Jim Shockey unfortunately, has that feeling to deal with right now. He recently made a post to Facebook, reaching out to the online community.
“Last Sunday, thieves broke into our family ranch house near Saskatoon and stole our (white) Cannon Safe which contained all my father’s guns. There were more than two thieves, as they literally loaded the entire safe onto a truck or trailer, along with our washer and dryer, television, stereo, 20 Stealth Cam trail cameras, aluminum ladders and all my father’s personal tools.”
“This picture is of one of my father’s rifles that was stolen. It was his personal big game rifle that he bought in 1954. It was a Model 788 Remington in .270 Win caliber and had an Austrian 4X scope mounted on it.”
If you have any information about this crime, please contact the RCMP at 306-975-1670. Jim is offering a reward for the return of his father’s firearms, and arrest and conviction of the criminals.
Post directly off his facebook:
I seldom ask anyone for help, but I am asking now. Please help us. My father’s guns were stolen last week and I am asking for your help to have those guns, which obviously have great sentimental value, returned to our family.
Last Sunday, thieves broke into our family ranch house near Saskatoon and stole our (white) Cannon Safe which contained all my father’s guns.
There were more than two thieves, as they literally loaded the entire safe onto a truck or trailer, along with our washer and dryer, television, stereo, 20-Stealthcam trail cameras, aluminum ladders and all my father’s personal tools.
They ransacked our family ranch house, looking for valuables and I suspect they have spent the last week trying to break into the safe.
Somebody reading this right now, in the Saskatchewan, Alberta or Manitoba area, knows who did this, or for sure someone who is reading this right now knows someone who knows the people who did this.

"...along with our washer and dryer, television, stereo, 20-Stealthcam trail cameras, aluminum ladders and all my father’s personal tools" That's got tweaker written all over it, hope they do and bet they do, catch the thieving tick-turds.

Sad and not a Joking matter at all but I like the way he slipped in a plug for Cannon Safe's at the same time. :chuckle:
-
Nobody is safe anywhere. :bash:
-
I could believe the rifle was a model 721 or 722, but not a 788 which was never chambered in .270
-
Dang I hope they find them. Just was chatting with Jim tuesday in Vegas.
-
Probably someone on his or Eva's FB list and saw they were heading out of town to the shot show. A good example as to why one shouldn't advertise being gone on FB.
-
Your probably correct Fowler ... Had to be more than two to pick up a safe full of guns ..You would think they would have security and trailcams pasted all over there property ....That is just to bad ...I would be pretty sick right now !

Yes but unfortunately for them they have to advertise their shows and presence, part of sponsorship and getting paid. I hope someone finds what heirlooms were taken, and hopefully they start hiring security or house sitters while they're away :/ I'm sure their ranch has been a target for a while. Someone watching it for a while that would know it would be COMPLETELY empty for however long.

It's amazing how many of these things become obvious AFTER you've been robbed. After we were robbed, we got camera and video systems that send the photos and footage to the cloud, day and night.

I'm wondering if that new "Ring" system they're advertising on tv records any video if the person on the porch doesn't push the door bell button? :dunno: What activates the video? :dunno:

I thought the same thing, only when the bell is rang. Kind of pointless to have one if that's the case.
-
That safe isn't small for sure. Maybe wasn't bolted down? Horrible and a crock.
Ole Sr Shockeys rifle is something that just cant be replaced. Hope they find it.
-
Sad part about it is that rifle probably got sold to the closest person interested for like 100$. Old rifle doesnt really hold a theives interest.

I think a noise activated Belgian malnois is the ticket!

Hey guys and gals, we have the Ring Doorbell, works great. Motion activated and button activated. I can stand there and wave to my wife when I leave and she talks to me via her cell phone at work across town. If someone were to come to the front door and not ring, you can scare the hell out of them by just saying hello. Hook up multiple devices to it and you can pay for storage at $3 @month or $30@ year. Add the kids to your system when your out of town and they can monitor your front door while your away. Didn't really want an indoor camera, it can be used against you in court, you know what I mean. 179.00 @ Costco. Every little bit helps.

Ring Doorbell sounds interesting, with the remote cell phone features. I think I'll check it out just to see what it offers.

I should add that you have to play with the sensitivity, as you will get multiple notifications when cars drive by and how close you are to the road. No problem just bring in the range.
-
Sounds like it's got the ability to adjust it to your situation. Nice feature. One of my biggest complaints with other systems has always been the lack of sensitivity adjustment for the environment.
