I bought one of these when they were up for $299 last year sometime. I've only run mine on propane. Fairly compact unit, electric start, great value for $325 in my opinion. Getcha one

What size propane tank do you need for it?
-
I bought one last year at the $299 price and have been happy with it. I have used my BBQ propane canister with it as well as the RV canister. It isn't exactly quiet but was well worth the money when the power went out. It was a great deal and didn't last long last year...
-
I just use a regular 20 lb tank but any tank with that same fitting (bbq type fitting) would work.
They say you get 20 +/- hours out of a 20 lb tank.
-
I also bought one last year for $299. That price didn't last long as later the day I bought or the next day, price went up to $599. Although I have not used mine yet, a friend has the same brand, different size and no complaints.
Here's a decible chart I remember posting regarding unit's noise level.
Compared to Honda chart this one is quieter than the Honda 5000 @ 72db's. Reviews indicated that it was noticably quiet.

It appears I posted last year's too...
Now everyone is wondering... is Stang a rep for a shoddy generator or what? :chuckle:
No, I Just thought it was a sweet deal then and also is a sweet deal now.
At least I'm consistent.

I also bought one for $299 and am very happy with it.
-
I read that the engine and everything is manufactured here in the U.S.A. Place called DuroPower in California.
-
Now says out of stock, 5,599 sold. That was pretty quick.
-
I always preach Honda. But at 300$ and operates on propane. For as often you use it.... Doesn't sound to bad of a deal. Thanks for the post!
-
Wow they are making some serious $$$ selling those units at $299 or $599 like $1.6 to 3.5 million ish for 5600 units :yike: Wonder what their profit margin is? If the ever come up at $299 again I'm game for another gen for the collection.

Its back up again...

You guys that are using them, how loud are they? I have a LPG generator and love it, but it is loud as hell. I saw the decibel chart above, but mine said it was only 78dbs and it is so loud I don't want to use it in campgrounds or tailgating.

Its not blood curdling loud, but its certainly not quiet. You don't start it up and go... wow, this is great, we should eat our dinner on top of this thing. I would definitely put it behind the camper. I've heard much louder ones, but it does not compare to those little suitcase inverter honda ones.
It says its the noise of a conversation... well think of how loud conversation is without breaks in between... which might sound somewhat like a convention or area full of people... so about that loud seems accurate.

Good info, thanks. For the price, I wouldn't expect it to be too quiet, but that price and being quieter than average, makes it even more appealing.
Thanks!

Wish it had the camper outlet. Is this one safe for TVs and sensitive electronics> If the Tahoes fuel pump had not gone out yesterday, i'd be on this. Tagging along for next time.
