Hi folks...
We've got meeting #2 for our new chapter set. Tuesday March 1st, 7pm at the Issaquah Brewhouse in Issaquah.
http://www.bing.com/mapspreview?&ty=18&q=Issaquah%20Brewhouse%20Issaquah%20WA&ss=ypid.YN925x17910505&ppois=47.5301818847656_-122.037200927734_Issaquah%20Brewhouse_YN925x17910505~&cp=47.530182~-122.037201&v=2&sV=1
This will be an important meeting as we will discuss the official forming of the chapter, the official name of the chapter and the direction/focus we'd like our new chapter to take for the future. We'll also discuss the banquet chair positions and who would like to be a part of those. Dan McKinley will be there again to help get us started.
We chose the brewhouse because they gave us a nice, quiet back room to meet in at no charge to us. Food and drink will be available to order from them, but obviously that's not free.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to pm me or Jim jkthomps. Either of us would be happy to assist. We look forward to seeing all of you out there.

Here's some info if anyone is curious re: the Mule Deer Foundation in our state:

Hey guys, Unfortunately I am not going to be able to make this second meeting.
I am up for whatever name and would prefer to focus on Mule deer but am open to splitting our focus if that is what the majority wants.
Sorry I can't make it. Good luck and looking forward to this.
-
This will be a great meeting. Looking forward to seeing everyone that can make it.
-
See Ya'll there.
-
That my brothers birthday but I'll try and make it. If anyone is interested the MDF Ellensburg chapter is having its banquet on Feb 27 @ the Ellensburg fairgrounds.
-
I should be able to make it
-
Does the 72 hour bump rule apply lol. Will be awesome to see everyone.
-
We can't let Gig Harbor have a better turnout. Spread the word and let's have a good time!
-
:) competitive nature :)
-
would a 15 & 9 year old boys and a 13 year old girl find anything interesting at this meeting or would they feel out of place because no other kids ever come to these meetings?

There weren't any kids at the last meeting but it was at a bar. That was the 1st meeting we had. This one is at a bar/brewery too, but it's in the back room and I'm not sure if kids are allowed. I would imagine there will be some get togethers or events that would be kid oriented. Just not sure on this meeting.
:dunno:
-
I would be interested in taking my 12 year olds to a meeting in the future. I think kids would have more fun doing volunteer work outdoors.
-
I should make this one, too.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

I'll be there. Sorry I haven't been on here lately...this time of year is brutal for me time-wise! Lucky if I even get a chance to look at emails, much less anything fun. So, if there are ever any questions, concerns, ideas, etc that I'm not addressing, send me a PM, email or text so that I know to take a look at it. See you all the 1st.
-
I'll be there
-
Hoping for a solid turnout. The back rooms are pretty good sized, so we need to fill it ;).
-
This will be one of the best MDF meetings ever ;). We will draw a few names out of a hat during this meeting. The lucky winners will have their choice of a Hunting-Washington.com decal, similar to the ones in this photo.
Yellowdog sells these on the forum, and I can't think of a better way to spice up the night.
Be sure to make this meeting for your opportunity to win one of these amazing decals!
*note - 300 Remington Ultra Mag in photo is for illustration purposes only and not eligible for this drawing ;)
-
Oh boy, we're going to need a bigger room!
-
I called the brewhouse to confirm our reservation. Plenty of room, so bring your friends and family. Told them we are still looking at 15-20 people... hope that holds true.
I reserved the room under Jim/ Mule Deer Foundation, just fyi.
-
Hope all goes well tomorrow, sorry I am going to miss it. I will be at the next one and might have at least one more guy to join and hopefully a couple.

Have fun! We will keep you posted on the details.
-
I don't know JK, now that you have the decal raffle going on, the crowd might get too big for the venue!
-
I will be there...a little late, but there.

I'll throw in a couple 5"x10" MDF window stickers, too, so we have multiple winners tonight!
-
Not looking good that I will make it tonight. Had to take truck into shop today. Maybe it will work out.
-
Might be a low turnout. Hope it isn't too low. The guys at the brewery will stop me from reserving the back room lol
-
Great meeting tonight! Thank you to everyone that could make it!
I will post a recap tomorrow. Unless someone beats me to it.
-
It was a good meeting! We got a lot accomplished and learned a lot. Thanks jkthomps, and thanks to MuleDeer for his insight and help!
-
Go Figure, I have a ton of meetings at work today :bash:
Official Chapter Name: Snoqualmie Chapter
Chair: Jim (jkthomps)
Co-Chair: Dave (DaveMonti)
Focus: Mule Deer (more to follow on what, where, how)
Banquet: TBD - looking for a venue and trying to hold our first banquet in June.
Online Info: https://muledeer.org/state/washington/
Dan
Regional Director

Rachel
State Chair

We had some happy winners with the drawings :chuckle:! I think the next meeting will be even more successful because of the excitement and drawings we bring to the meetings! :yike:
There was a lot more that came out of this meeting, but this provides some of the basics I know people were looking for. I left my notebook in my pickup, so I don't have any more specifics until I get home tonight.
I am looking forward to making this happen and putting more funds on the ground for Mule Deer in Washington.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I am still learning this role, but will do my best to make our chapter successful.

Sorry about the last minute bow out move. Had to take care of sick kid and stir crazy wife. Sounds like a good meeting and happy to see some things got accomplished.
Good work, fellas.
-
It is all good. Family first! If DaveMonti didn't step in, you might have been a write in for the chair or co-chair.

Buckjunkie has a lot of good ideas and contacts that we will need to utilize. I will send you a pm, Buckjunkie. Thanks for making it with all the traffic!

I was just looking into joining the MDF yesterday.
I wasn't aware that a local chapter was starting up.
Is there an emailing list for updates on the local chapter meetings?

It sounds like we're on our way. Thanks Jim and Dave for taking the lead. This meeting venue was excellent - as we could actually hear! The beer wasn't too bad, either. :brew:

Thanks Jim and Dave for stepping up. I will do whatever I can to help out. Looking forward to our next meeting.

I don't think there is a list yet. Thus far, communication has been through this forum. Now that we have a chapter identity, I assume there will be elections for chapter president, secretary, etc. Thus far the only appointees are the two volunteers for the banquet committee (although it seems like Jim is making a good case to be chapter president!)
I'll coordinate with Jim regarding scheduling and communication for the next meeting. The regional folks are doing the heavy lifting regarding the venue for the banquet for right now (Thanks Rachel and Dan!)
I will say that those that didn't attend missed out on some very nice headgear!

Absolutely! Shoot me a pm with your email and we will put it on the list. Will use emails as long as this forum and a couple other avenues to try and get the next meeting and banquet hoppin.
-
Pm sent. Thanks!

Feel better! See you at the next one.

Happy to hear the focus is mule deer, couldn't make it but will do my best to attend the next one.

Sweet, looking forward to the next meeting. Glad to hear this one was a success. I was open to whatever and happy with the name and direction we are headed.
Thanks Jim, Dave and Dan, I will help out as much as I can.

I missed this earlier. I will PM you later with some ideas I have. Thanks to Jackelope and MuleDeer, we have a master email list from the first meeting. Now that we are "official" we will utilize this list as a master list to send out reminders and updates about meetings and events. With Hunt-Washington.com, social media, and word of mouth, we will be able to bring good people together for a great cause.
If anyone would like to receive emails when they are sent out, please feel free to pm your email address, I will add you to the list.
I want to make sure we send a big Thank You to Dale and Hunting-Washington.com moderators and members. This forum/website is one of the strongest tools we as hunters, outdoorsmen/women, and wildlife enthusiasts have to come together in today’s modern society. There are a lot of great things we can do when we come together, and I am confident we will make great things happen.
