Title: Sighting in bow
Post by: kreed93 on February 16, 2016, 08:58:22 AM: I got a new sight for my bow and was trying to sight it in. The problem I am having is I have moved the sight and the 20 yard pin all the way up and still shooting 8 inches high. Was wondering if any one had any advice on what to do next. Thank you.

Post by: Jellymon on February 16, 2016, 10:27:41 AM: Make sure your rest is set up with the arrow even with the berger/rest screw hole. If that's good then your peep is most likely too high. Moving your peep down just 1/16-1/8 can lower the sight quite a bit. Just make sure not to move the peep with tension on the string cause it can damage the string.

Post by: theleo on February 16, 2016, 10:30:16 AM: Is this your first bow? If you're not anchoring correctly that could be an issue. Also check the rest, if it's really out of whack it'll send your arrows different directions.

Post by: kreed93 on February 16, 2016, 11:10:51 AM: So I have had this bow for a month and just upgraded to a better sight. The last sight I had on it was shooting just fine so I don't think it is the arrow rest. I did also thing it was my anchor point but I don't believe it is that either.

Post by: RadSav on February 16, 2016, 11:41:12 AM: Put your old sight back on, place an arrow on the rest and measure the distance from the top of the arrow to the 20 yard pin. Then put the new sight on and do the same thing. Depending on the distance from the peep to the sight pins there may be some minor differences, but it will get you in the ball park. Will let you know how much you need to adjust the bracket or if there are other issues.

Even if there are rest or fletching contact issues you should still see a change in your POI when you move the pin 1/8". If there is no change in POI then the issue is usually between the ears. ;) Matching it up to the last sight should get you back on track and on the road to finding the issue.

Post by: jessie88 on February 16, 2016, 07:59:46 PM: i had this happen with a tru glo sight, had to take off the piece that mounts to the riser and flip it. sighted it in perfectly after that. the tru glo on the right side is upside down but it works perfectly.

Done this more than a few times. Easy. Same goes for your peep when you change it our the string.
