Title: Remington 700 VTR
Post by: KillBilly on January 27, 2009, 04:24:42 PM: I am surprised I haven't heard a lot of chat about this unique piece. Maybe I missed it but thought I would provide a link if you haven't seen it. I handled one at Cabelas last week. It did not have the muzzle break but it was kinda cool what with a triangular barrel and all.

Post by: Antlershed on January 27, 2009, 04:28:44 PM: I've owned mine (with the brake) for almost a year now, and I know wastickslinger just bought the one without the brake a couple weeks ago. The one without the brake is a Cabela's exclusive, and I wish I could have got one without the brake when I bought mine. I really like them just cause they look "different" and they can flat out shoot.

Thinking the Leupold VX-7 2.5-10x45. I do use a 12 ga with a hastings rifled barrel topped with a Pentax 2.5 lightseeker II for blacktail but there are times we have shots over 150 yards and want a little more accuracy/distance. What cal do you guys have? Im guessing you have a 204 wastick.

How far was that 3 shot group Wastick? Sniper central wasent to impressed with the accuracy of these. But when are they? Lol

I been looking into getting one for a couple of weeks. I went and handled one at White Elephant. I really liked it. I'm going to pick one up in 22-250. Nice to see that some guys are using it.

I want the rifle for a west side Blackie gun primarily. But with a really good scope Im thinking I can use it on the other side as well if the chance happens to come about. ;)

Was thinking a 7600 but it limits my usage then. Not a great 3 to 500 yarder.

Want something short, lite and chambered in 308.

Does the one without the brake have a 22" or 24" barrel? Mine with the 22" barrel weighs 10.8lbs with scope and bipod attached...definitely not what I would call "light"...unless I'm comparing it to my Sendero. :)

24" and I weigh about 11lbs with scope and bipod

I'm sure they are priced better elsewhere. When I bought mine, Joe's had the cheapest price on them, and Cabelas SHOULD price match it for you.

I think I will be getting a Jewell trigger for mine after shooting my Sendero with the Jewell in it today.

On the upside under .75" Very impressive for a 700 dollar rifle.

I think they will shoot .75" off the shelf for someone who bench shoots alot.

Post by: HawkenBob on February 05, 2009, 07:49:07 AM: Seems easy enough to do yourself. Basically take a dremmel and hog out the stocks ribs so when the action is assemebled no part of the barrel touches the stock at all.

Bedding it is pretty easy too. Mix up the bedding and pour it in. Set the actioned barrel assembly and snug down. Once dried, remove the barreld action and trim away any that got pushed up and over the top edges of the stock. Then put it back in and tighten it up.

The dremeling took awhile, but easy to do if your semi mechanically inclined.
