two turkeys pushing each other around for almost an hour, one had the others head half way down its beak??
what are they doing, might have been 2 jakes or a jake and hen???

Any turkey experts out there know what this means in the turkey world
:dunno:

Establishing dominance would be my guess but I'm far from a turkey expert.

Warming up for the main event. Saw a tom approach another this week, stretch to full height over a buddy and circle him at least fifty times, in both directions in tight. Goofy birds

Yep that was happening also, but have never seen them try swalling the others head. :o

I see it every year. I even had one that it's lower beak was broken off during the fight. Check out my website. I have a turkey fight video on it. They really get it on. Hens do the same. I actually broke up a fight where one hen had the others head almost down it's throat. I think it is a submission move. When they can't get air they break off the fight. Here is a close up of a gobbler getting head.. :chuckle:

I've seen this too. Really nasty.
Broken beaks seems to happen quite a bit around here too.

OK, thought I had some freaky turkeys around here!
So it's more of a fight than mating thing.
Thanks
