What does the www say??

I sure like my 243. But apparent my posts aren't to be taken seriously...
:chuckle:

Neither of us brother.... maybe would should google it???? Grin

From a gas gun or a bolt action? :dunno:
According to "the internets" it's ideal for young, in-experienced shooters as long as it's in a bolt action. I think it's the minimalist nature of the caliber that makes it perfect for new shooters who are most likely to make marginal hits. If a grown man shoots it he's either injured or unethical.
In a gas gun it's commonly recognized as unethical and typically promoted by individuals who are prone to taking pot shots and dumping an entire mag on animals at unethical ranges.
I could be wrong on alll of that though. I used Bing for my search instead of the more widely accepted Google. :chuckle:

That's a good start but your explanation needs to be at least quadrupled in length.

Inside 50 yards with non aware animal then I would say yes.. If they are wearing their armor which I heard the North American animals have now days I would say it is not adequate..
-
Hey now, deer are really tough to kill!! You better regoogle it!! You need premium boolits and real powerful cartridges!!!
-
I've only killed one deer but it was with a .243.............

Only if your trying to be ethical...

Uber magnum powerful tack drivers! No potshots at deer with smk or 243.
Y'all should already know that tho!

Need proof or it didn't happen... Just hope it was inside 100 yards or you aren't a real hunter..

How did you ever do that!!?? Mud have been only luck because nobody (not even match shooters) can dope the wind well enough to actually make a 243 kill! Bolt or gas gun...
-
I don't always shoot deer.......but when I do I use my .243.
-
I'm super torn though. Although I love to be unethical with my .243, with the new custom getting done, its gonna be hard not to use it in Wyoming this year for antelope. Choices choices choices

Well I think I can cover is on unethical ness with my lowly 6.5. :chuckle:

So a deer is too thin skined to shot with a .243 but elk are dense enough for the small diameter bullet to expand beyond 6.5 mm and kill .... this theory only works if you use core locks though . :chuckle:

The 243 will work, but I prefer something a little larger. I would go with a 9.3, .404, .416 and if you want to put them down hard look at a .458. :chuckle:

The bc on those is not near what it needs to be. I read on the inter webs that you need a bc of .875 to effectively kill any thing.

.458? :dunno: Thats barely adequate. You'd really run the risk of losing the animal if you had a marginal shot. .700 nitro express is what I'd recommend.

What does the www say??
You changed the title? I thought "dynasty" was rather fitting... :yike:

The only way I think a .243 might possibly be adequate is if you were perfectly lined up to send it to the deers heart through the cornhole. With the good old Texas heart shot you don't gots'ta worry about that impenetrable hide.

Nuts, I was so close to being able to use the 458 Arnold on deer this year.

What happens if I use Barnes bullets in my 243? Does that make me an unethical anti hunting hunter?
This whole thread reminds me, I need to dig out my 14" 243 barrel and throw it on one of the pistols to get ready for deer season.

The hammer and shark void is nicely filled by this group😉👆
