Title: Raising Mallard Duks
Post by: curtdiesel on March 18, 2016, 01:43:25 PM
I bought several Mallards two years ago from the local feed store.  I kept two and last year they hatched 12 ducklings.  I sold and ate some of those.  I am down to just two and think the hen that I have left is most likely the daughter of my Drake.  I am going to buy some more and start banding them for identification to prevent this sort of thing.  I try hard to keep their wings clipped and prevent them from flying off.  What are the implications of them escaping?  The bands I plan to put on them will have my website information on them.

Thanks,

Curt

I know nothing about the implications, but that is really cool, if they survive. My dad attempted to do that with Quail and they hardly survived to the border of his property.
