Since the previous thread had a bunch of other issues on it. Here is a new thread....
Where is everyone going hunting...I am thinking that winter might delay me getting into turkey camp...Damn Snow.
-
blues...can't wait.
about 4' less snow than last year at the N.F. entry would be nice.
i thought it was yelp yelp??
-
your right good catch...how have you been..did you get a deer?
-
Hunters area and up by Kettle falls. WooHoo!!
-
Ellensburg area or The Skookumchuck mostly. Hoping to take trip to the S.E. to try to get a multi year slam at least.
-
Probally back to davenport.

no deer for me. hunted the farm on alpowa ridge and hunted a couple days in the wilderness off of the 40 rd with no shooters found. had a great time though, can't complain. just looking forward to the turkeys now.
-
I am going to head up around Colville and Chewelah probably going to skip the opener though. The last two times I have hunted the opener the weather was terrible and there was still a bunch of snow on the ground.
-
heading north of spokane...locked up some private land so that should be great...
-
Cant wage the past couple of years on what it will do this one. It might be wonderful this year ??
Dont forget to make your hotel reservations this year if your going to be staying in Colville, or Chewelah guys.. They fill up FAST.
-
Last year they seemed to have some vacancies at Benny's on opening weekend. Might of had to do with gas prices being so high though.
-
Mention the NWTF when you call Benny's in Colville. Andy Hydorn runs it and he is also the Pres of the Upper Columbia Gobblers Chapter, He will give you a good deal on a room and if you are having a hard time finding Bird's he might even sneak you onto his ranch

Nice, I will have to do that.

Waiting to see what the weather will be like on east side. Probably hunt eastern's early, east side 2nd. or 3rd. week and west side at the end if i need to.
-
Rice area early; maybe Klickitat late.
-
same here turkey man
-
Lincoln county early this year. Then who knows....maybe upriver to Stevens. Yelp need help....lol.
-
I'll be hunting around Spokane. Have a spot just south on town and might have some private land toward Cheney. There's another spot west of Spokane that I'm going to scout.
-
winlock early, liberty mid season, colville late
-
Other than my usual haunts in and around Spokane I may hunt Oregon this year.
-
I'll be hunting ID for sure, I haven't made up my mind if I am going to hunt anything in WA this year or ever again.
-
I hear ya there...they are screwing the pooch on this one.
-
How long are most of you intitially gone for? Week...weekend? I know some of you are retired and loving life....so don't rub it in! :chuckle:
-
its all about the private land..I dont even care to shoot the monsters at my in-laws in colville TOO EASY.. if anyone wants to hit up some private land let me know....pretend you know me..ill get us permission on the property..Bam!!!!

Will hunt opening week near Colville and also south of Chewelah. Also have a trip planned to hunt several days (guided) near the Smoky Mountains National Park in Eastern Tennessee (first time to this area).
Last year harvested a nice three year old hybrid (Eastern/Rio) hunting private land semi-guided in Northeastern Kansas. Great turkey hunting property and general area. In Kansas last year it was like yelp yelp gobble.....yelp yelp yelp gobble to a box call, then silence (no more answers to more yelps, cutts etc., so I quit calling) ............. after 10 minutes the ole lone tom suddenly came in quiet and then shied away from the hen decoy to make it a long shot! I was hunting the 4th week of the Kansas season. Call shy and decoy shy birds but the toms were not henned up.

RailRob old buddy old pal...Consider two thirty packs? :chuckle:
-
Rail, shoot me your info.. If I get sunked at my place due to weather I will shoot you a call and bring ya some "bush"... you might need some coffee to sober up after that offer.. :chuckle:
-
The countdown is now down to 10 weeks.
I am looking for Rios to begin the season. Then see what I can do about some Merriams.
Last year the snow was still deep around Spokane in April and so no Merriams.
This one rancher south of Colville had turkeys everywhere a few years back, but after inviting everybody he could find for several years now, the turkeys got the hint and now leave him alone.
-
I am going to wonder out in the woods somewhere and try my luck for the first time on an official turkey hunt. I don't have a clue where. I might try around Teanaway, just because its close to home.
-
Bird still flocked up...I had a buddy go around and he saw around 2-300 turkeys...One flock has over 35 longbeards in it!! YELP YELP!

Railbob,
Have beer will travel ;) Let me know if you want some company. I have a 15 yr old that I would like to take out and possibly my 11 yr old daughter this year.
Thanks,
Gobble

I think we have enough beer to keep railrob interested. :chuckle:
-
Who knows. Probably head towards liberty area since my closer to home haunts have all the roads washed out making access very rough. Might just man up if no one is there and have it all to myself. :hello:
-
You hunt up in the Colockum or by Cashmere Teal?
-
Both. Hard to get away from people in those areas but being young I'm more willing to walk/jog into no where to find some.
Got on 5 toms last year and had a shot at 1 that I goofed. He was on a hill and right as I shot he stepped to my left and down the hill and I shot up and to the right of him...
