Title: First Turkey
Post by: Elkstuffer on April 03, 2016, 11:51:54 AM: I called in this tom for my son Garric yesterday morning 15 minutes into opening day. This was his first after two unsuccessful seasons. We put a group to bed the night before and were in position well before daylight the next morning. This was a feat itself as we were 4 miles in behind a locked gate on public land. After the birds strutted in spitting and drumming and Garric starting to hyperventilate I gave him the go ahead for the 15 yrd shot. A very special day and a well deserved bird!

No, dad had the pleasure of packing it out and it was fully enclosed in a turkey vest/pack. That picture was taken about 10 feet from where he killed it so we were safe and most guys were still in bed :chuckle:. I agree. There are a lot of yaahoo's out there that don't identify their targets before pulling the trigger. Great advise for all to adhere to.
