Title: Kapowsin Spring Bear
Post by: jdhansen92 on April 04, 2016, 12:22:52 PM: Has anyone came across any fresh sign or seen any bears ? I haven't yet but they should be moving around pretty soon

You won't find peels until the cambium starts running.

Post by: CementFinisher on April 06, 2016, 11:45:01 AM: Many bears here on the west side have been up since that really warm week we had in feb. and even more in march. when you start seeing the new green growth that's when the really start to peel, but some have been for a couple weeks due the the warmer weather of the last 50 60 days. the skunk cabbage really came in early this year

Post by: crowinghen on April 08, 2016, 07:43:03 PM: We went up last night , with this weather the grass is coming in good . We hiked into a couple areas that look promising but still no sign . The grouse are starting to talk and we came across a rag horn 4X4 bull that was still packing . We have a couple cameras up , we're going to check them next Wed. If any of you are heading up remember your Thermacell , the mosquito are thick !

Bushbuster , that was about the same time we found a lot of peels on the Bridge side last year . There is a 2 - 3 acre area that is going to be solid red this year .

Post by: crowinghen on April 21, 2016, 05:46:58 AM: We were up there yesterday- pulled our cameras- One had gotten the card stolen :( the other had deer and elk, no bear.
Tromped around quite a bit didn't see any sign yet. We did get some action on a coyote but he busted us.

Looked like he would have been nice and tender but he didn't give me the opportunity to find out . Still have not found any fresh peels , did find some nice grassy areas in some jack firs that a bear had been on .

Located some peeling but nothing major yet . We're heading in tomorrow night to check another area that looks promising . Their moving , just not a lot of activity yet .

Post by: justyhntr on May 15, 2016, 07:43:12 PM: We are now seeing a lot of peeling and fresh sign . Friday talked to Clide , says 2 bear have been taken so far . Been doing a little bit of calling , called a cow elk to within 10 yards of my wife using a calf in distress . Yesterday using a rabbit distress had one come in a thick area we were calling , came straight in , but hung up short , heard him huff a couple times then he circled us until he got our scent .That seems to be a common theme for us when calling bears and coyotes in there .

Saw pictures of a color phase chocolate taken Wed. evening . This girl came in Wed. evening to a calve elk distress .

Good job on the coyotes that is awesome! Been seeing tons of little fawns running around. Good time to knock the coyotes down
