Last week I had to do the toughest thing ever, have my best friend put down. Rocking M's Fires lil Nellie gave me so much joy in her 13 years and more than 800 retrieves of ducks and geese. At home she was a goof ball but when it was " time to work" she was all business. She would sit in her spot on the boat watching and waiting. In the blind she was like a rock. Never in my life have I had such a loving companion. The last 8 years ( other than deer of elk hunting) spent every minute of every day together. I'm just heart broken.

Sorry for your loss. She looks like she was a great dog.

My thoughts are with you. I have personally never felt the hurt as I did when I lost a good dog years ago. There is no better friend

It's hard to let them go. It's not a decision I'm looking forward to as Riley's almost 9 now. Sorry for your loss. He's a good memory.

What a beautiful companion. While she gave you some great memories you gave her a great life doing what she loved.
For sure a tough day. But smile always when you think of her.

Hey Huntincrazy, I feel your pain! (Magnum Pain) I just put down our Rosie last Tuesday after 13 great years. I'm 50 years old and she is the 4th lab we've had, and if you think 50 year old guys don't cry, then your crazy. I'm still teared up. I can tell you and most the other guys on this site are the type of guys who should keep the legacy alive. Yeah I know it hurts, but look at the many years of great times you had. I feel we owe it to the labrador breed to continue the legacy. Somewhere out there is an 8 week old lab that may not get to experience the life our dogs did, and to me that's absolutely unacceptable. Black, Chocolate or Yellow, it don't matter. Get one and get back to doing what we do.
