I just found this forum and I'm looking forward to reading thru it all. I got this buck last october near Twisp. It was my first time hunting. I shot it with a Savage Arms .270. Shot it about 9:30 AM and finished dressing it out about 6 PM. It was a long day and I can't wait for the upcoming season.

Congrats and welcome :IBCOOL:

As we used to say in the Navy - Welcome aboard! Great first buck. That buck's a shooter every day of the season in my book.
There is a formal introductions thread in the Virtual Campfire section that you may want to post your introduction on as well. The deer hunting pages are a little slow these days, so you might get more pats on the back by following this link:

That is a dandy buck! Welcome!!

Your first hunt and first deer? Holy cow congrats! You must be a lucky man. I'd rather be lucky then good when it comes to hunting. With that said, you will get much faster at dressing down your deer. When I read that it took almost all day I was like whoa but then I remembered what it was like starting out. Either way, really nice animal and wilkommen!

Who was it that cleaned your first buck? The guy with the knife has facial hair and different camo pants!

My cousin who lives in the valley knew of a place, so we had it done there. Very tasty.

It weighed in at 300 lbs and we were about 1.5 miles from the truck. Mostly slippery down hill from the fires. No doubt lucky. What a rush, though.
