Title: Well, I'm going to try another Leupold Gold Ring Rubber Armored Compact Spotter
Post by: JDHasty on April 12, 2016, 11:36:27 AM
I have had three stolen in the last twenty-five years and had considered one of the new compact variables, but these scopes have served me very well over the years. I got this one for $260 and it includes the Leupold Packer Tripod shown with it.

JD,
Is that the 20 x 50MM?  My dad had one, over 20 years old, and I used it quite a bit.  I didn't think it was all that great out past a few hundred yards for spotting bucks.
I'm in the market for a spotter right now, and am having trouble figuring out which one to purchase.

It is a 25x50.  I had one 20x50 and one 25x50 w/crosshair and another 25x50 and all three have been pilfered - I have always found them to be a totally adequate scope for pack in big game hunting.

Thanks JD.  I'm hoping to cover more than big game with whatever scope I buy.  I expect to pay for it, and I've always had good luck with Leupold, but I'm still looking at options.

I have had one of the 25 x 50 since 1989. It is not the same as a Swarovski or new Leupolds but does everything I want it to do and is lite weight.
