Title: Tikka T3 Superlite

Post by: JakeLand on May 08, 2016, 06:51:07 AM: I have 2 one is a .270 WSM T -3 lite and it's awesome wouldn't change a thing my 2nd one is a .300WSM and it kicked good so I put a B/C medalist stock on it and it tamed it down a lot of. Muzzle breaks are so annoying loud that I refuse to do that so the only con to me are the stocks they very cheap and loud when scratched against

I changed the recoil pad to a limbsaver. Recoil now felt like a 308/30-06. The factory rubber piece was supported by hard plastic.

I have since changed to a B&C stock. Nice rigid stock w/aluminum bed, and Pachmeyer recoil pad.

Shoots VERY nice

Yep the B/ C stocks make a world of difference :tup:

By the way, what caliber are you looking at?

If you can't find one locally to check out, let me know and we can meet up. I believe north 40 is also a tikka dealer.

I've replaced the recoil pads on the .308 and the .300 Win Mag with Limbsaver pads and it helped a great deal with recoil. Also, you may want to think about replacing the stock rings (they come with Tikka rings) and upgrade to a sturdier ring in the higher calibers. Great rifles...you'll love it!

In the beginning i didn't shoot it much more than i had to because of recoil, after realizing its pointless to carry a rifle you aren't comfortable and confident with i put a limb saver recoil pad on it and now I can shoot 40 rounds in a day and not feel a touch of sore the next day. I would highly recommend the rifle and also the recoil pad. Muzzle brakes are always good but i don't like how loud it is. For me the recoil pad was enough to make it enjoyable to shoot and I have gotten 3 inch groups at 530 yards with factory ammo, I need to get into reloading again. :twocents:

Post by: Caretaker on May 09, 2016, 06:07:50 PM: Tikka / Sako do not warranty their stocks if broke by using a bipod. I had a 270 wsm that i shattered the forend by using one. Their response is they are not made for bipods...period. I ended up ordering a McMillan to replace it. Something to consider.

Good news. All the superlites appeared to be blued only on the catalog. I will have to look again. I have 2 T3 in stainless and 3 blues ones. Good guns.

I thought Sportsmans carries the black/blued and Cabelas carries the camo/stainless...?

Sportsmans does black/stainless and cabelas is camo/stainless.

I was pleasantly surprised the recoil was not near as bad as I thought it would be. Still plan on a limbsaver pad however but a break is not necessary. Very light but they handle nice and I've grown to overlook the Plastikka thing I had in my head for years.

Here's the part that should sell you on buying one. Just like 99% of other tikka owners, this gun shoots lights out! I put together a few different loads of H1000 and Berger 168 hybrids and in 2 trips to the range it was shooting one ragged hole 3 shot groups consistantly. What more could you want in a mountain rifle platform under 6 lbs, 24 inch barrel & stainless for 699.00? Hell if you got the money, buy 2! :twocents: :tup:

Where can you get a super lite in 25-06?!?!

I would love one in that caliber to complement my 30-06 super lite.

Though it has been long enough I could be mistaken whether it was the Tikka plastic, a Hunter or the Sako. Ask the person at the gun counter to do a corp wide search. If they find one they should be able to have it transferred to that store.

I guess it's tough to find one. I'll just look into another option, maybe build one.

The actions are smooth, the triggers excellent, and they are accurate rifles. I just couldn't warm up to the plastic everywhere. My two cents is that if you can swing the extra dough, the Forbes rifle or Kimber Montana are better platforms for a lightweight do it all hunting rifle.

Post by: brew on July 21, 2016, 04:33:19 PM: my cousing was in a bind and sold me his T3 270 wsm with the limbsaver butt pad. awesome shooting gun. ammo is a little spendy but once sighted in you only need one. a piece of advice avoid shooting them in the shoulder :'(

Not a fair comparison. You can get a T3 SL for $650 when a Montana will typically run $1100 (I'm seeing 11-1250 at my local stores). Hard to compare something at nearly twice the cost.

I'm getting .6 moa out of it with factory loaded 154 sst's (can't seem to break into the 1/2 moa club) It sits in a bell and carlson medalist stock that tames the recoil extremely well. I had the bolt fluted and replaced the bolt handle and knob with a titanium handle and carbon fiber knob. I also replaced the bottom plastic trigger guard with a one piece bottom metal from Mountain Tactical so people can't tell me tikkas are all plastic haha I just need to cerakote it and top it with a swaro z3 and it'll be finished.
