Title: SW WA hunting/scouting partner
Post by: SteelheadTed on May 12, 2016, 12:42:40 PM: I've been hunting SW Washington the past two seasons during rifle season. I've seen elk but no legal bulls. I am going to scout quite a bit more this year to see about finding where the bulls go. PM if interested and we can talk specific area and see if we have it in common and maybe take a scouting trip together.

Risky I suppose but all my buddies fish and don't hunt so I'm willing to take a little risk to see if I can find some folks in the area that are good folks looking for other good folks to hunt with.

True.
I have met a lot of decent people in the area, seems the only rude ones were on the internet.
I have yet to meet a HW member while in the field, and I ask.

I have heard that also, but by then the elk are off the roads anyways...
They get pushed around quite a bit by November...

Even during archery they start to disappear and reappear on private "no acess in a million years" property. "Those are my elk you can not hunt them". Was the theme many times when I was trying to gain access.

If you have a cute, young daughter, bring her along when asking permission to use someone's land, that tends to lower people's guard and get them to loosen up. A 5-year old in pigtails is hard to deny. By the time my girls are too old to help with that I hope to have a dozen or more permissions in hand!

Ah! I've been off the forum for a few weeks, things got busy in life. I've been hunting in Pacific County in and around Raymond.

I'm located in the Couve and have every other weekend free so I could do overnight camp trips as well.
