Title: coyote crap question
Post by: jdb on February 01, 2009, 03:08:58 PM
I was calling today and at one of my go to spots I have to skirt a fence corner and there is a heavily used trail there. I never noticed before but this morning there were 6 diffrent piles of crap? all verying in age from fresh this morning to a crusty old bleached out pile that must be pushing a year old. Anyone else ever seen this?

When I was hunting quail a few months ago. I was walking on the edge of an old canal and there were about 5 piles of crap there. Seemed like everytime I went there a new pile would show up.

Its probly a board of a coyote's teritory. I have seen this in alot of areas but not had much luck by that kind of sign.

I would use howls when calling the area close to that scat.  It sounds like a territorial boudary being marked.

Some old trappers would use coyote crap instead of bait/scent. Other dogs would smell it and crap next to it to mark territory
