My last big turkey hunting trip of the season was another epic adventure for me. I ventured out to the Midwest to chase gobblers in Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. It was awesome!! I started by hunting Easterns in Missouri then Kansas. I was able to harvest both my birds in Missouri on the last two days of their pretty short season. Then I hopped just across the stateline into Kansas and killed a huge gobbler the next Morning. He was a true limb hanger! Just threw his spurs onto the branch and he hung there, didnt have to adjust even one bit to get him to hang! :yike: His spurs were about inch and a half.
After that I drove waaaay across the state to hunt Rios. This was fun and I killed a nice bird the first morning, but I quickly decided I would rather be hunting Easterns since I have hunted so many Merriams and Rios back home. So back east I went, this time to Nebraska near the Missouri River. Got another dandy bird there as well after two days of tough hunting. The Easterns are just a blast to hunt. They are tough, tricky, and even downright evil at times, but the just makes it that more special when you have harvested one. Great trip in America's Heartland!!! :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:
