Title: Colorado deer draw
Post by: ihunt on May 16, 2016, 01:42:23 PM
Been putting in since 2012 showing I have only 3 points does this make since I would think I would have 4 points.
Title: Re: Colorado deer draw
Post by: jjhunter on May 16, 2016, 02:14:53 PM
You should have 4
Title: Re: Colorado deer draw
Post by: ihunt on May 16, 2016, 02:21:36 PM
Colorado says 2012 I don't get a point until 2013 so in 5 yrs you get 3 points I drew in 2011.

Yeah seems screwy to me too. I started applying in 2012/2011 and should have 5 points going into next year. I looked at 2015 and only shows me having 3 points. I dont understand it

They are getting close to doing the draw.  So it might just be a glitch in the system.

Post by: ihunt on May 16, 2016, 03:57:37 PM
There are no points showing they are in process of drawing they say no glitches they say 3 points is correct from 2012  and didn't miss a year

I think I got a tag as well. Showed 591 code when I applied, showing 491 code now. That means you drew correct? Never tried the backdoor before lol.

I think point creep got me in Colorado. 13 points was a sure thing for the last 3 years. Not this year.

Post by: Taco280AI on May 17, 2016, 10:51:21 AM
Does a 590 mean you drew your first choice tag? My deer shows a 590 but elk shows 480. The elk tag first choice I knew I wouldn't get but second choice had leftovers last year. My deer tag was the hard one to draw, about 25% with one point.

Title: Re: Colorado deer draw

And what does 590 mean
Title: Re: Colorado deer draw
Post by: Karl Blanchard on May 17, 2016, 04:32:27 PM
591 is a non-resident deer tag on file with the state.
Title: Re: Colorado deer draw
Post by: coachcw on May 17, 2016, 04:39:37 PM
591 must mean that I need to stop eating for a couple months and become one with the hill at night .

What's the link you guys are using to find the codes?

What's the link you guys are using to find the codes?
Got to this link, click on blue tab on the right that says buy/apply online

http://cpw.state.co.us/thingstodo/Pages/BigGame.aspx

log into your account.  After log in page, the first page you come to will be all your info.  scroll to the bottom and look for the blue tab in the lower right that says habitat stamps and all other license.  Click on it

scroll to the bottom and it will say items you already have on file.  if you show 591-non resident deer, it means you have a deer tag on file with the state, which means you were successful in drawing a tag.

I was under the assumption that 590 is the code for residents and 591 is non residents.  Are you a Colorado resident?

No luck involved in Colorado, he must have just applied for an easy to draw tag.

Pretty easy. 58% draw odds with 1 point or less. Still if it were me it would take a couple years  :chuckle:.

Ahh, got it. Yes, still a little luck needed there!

Agreed, at 58%, I pretty much would have been planning to hunt somewhere else too.   :chuckle:

So here is a question for you guys.  I've never NOT drawn a colorado tag, so if you are unsuccessful,  does it just show 491 deer app and 059 habitat stamp, or will it show something additional like 491 non res deer?

There must have been some point creep. A no go, 491 for me.
Congratulations to all that drew!
Should be a great Year.

Good luck to everyone. I put in with 13 points. Last year 20% of people with 12 points drew the tag and this year I didn't draw with 13.

I bet we are gonna see 1 or 2 more years of this high inflation before things even out :bash:
Thank goodness for solid second choice spots 8)

Brother in law and I both drew tags. unit 41,42,421 3rd rifle. Not the best unit but great opportunity to get after a nice buck with this years dates. Hunted it in 2012 and shot a good buck and a nice bull. Hunted a total of 2 hours in 2 days and had my tags punched. Hoping for a repeat lol.

I changed my app at the last minute after drawing a great tag that butted up the 3rd season dates.    I hate to miss this years' dates in CO, but should have a lot of options next year with 8 pts.

That second choice spot isn't a guarantee.  Too many people are figuring it out.  :bash:

Bad deer tags in Colorado are usually better than medium to good tags in other states.  I love second choice tags to go shoot big bucks.

Quick question for you guys that have drawn a deer tag in Colorado before. Do they send you your tag in the mail or do we have to go online and request it? This is the first year for me drawing a tag and I just received my elk refund tonight. Kinda figured I would have got both I guess.

They will mail them. I have not received my tag yet either.  But elk refund showed up today.
