Hopefully they will be chasing the ladies around!

Nice.
I keep trying to draw that tag, but no joy so far.
-
My kid drew it also. I hunted the late archery season there a couple of years ago. Should be a great rifle hunt.

Should be a great hunt is right. The deer there are doing well (all things considered with fires and winter kill in other areas nearby) and the conditions are good so far for another good year. We have property in 204 and have yet to draw that tag since we went to points. The cameras reveal that the activity is good during that time, better later in the permit season usually. A little good winter type weather would be helpful. My hunting partner usually buys the multi-season deer tag and really likes that late archery hunt. Do not hesitate to look at the public ground as there is lots of it and some great deer on it. Best of luck to lunchbox and Ironhead's son and the others that drew as well.

I just don't want to hear any stories about you and "The North Idaho Golden Child" sharing the same sleeping bag! :chuckle:

This is a great tag! Hunt as late as you can, I've drawn this tag 3 times and the best rut activity and hunting seems to happen the last week.
Invest in a grunt tube and if you're seeing does, the buck won't be far away. I drew this tag last year and my first day and a half of hunting I passed on 11 bucks. I ended up harvesting a big 8 point with great mass.
If you know he unit and have the time to scout a bit you have a great chance at a big mature whitetail buck. Good luck!

Any pictures of that heavy 8 pt. to get lunchpail's blood pumping??

Not the best picture, but it'll have to do.

Is there a lot of public ground for this hunt? I have 20 buck points and think I'm gonna put in for this hunt next year.
-
Plenty of public land. I've taken 2 nice whitetail bucks during the late hunt and both were on public land. If you can get the Onx map app it does a great job of showing public and private land boundaries, it's a great tool.
-
:yeah: I agree for the hunt it is it would be hard to not find public land holding good deer. The commute time to scout will hurt the not serious folks, but for those that put in the miles (boot and tire) there is a great hunt to be had. With 20 points it is a still a drawing but your chances should be very good :IBCOOL:.

Any info on some good spots to check MtnMuley would be greatly appreciated.

I'd start at the Chesaw tavern the night before. Hell, you don't even need to bring a sleeping bag if you play your cards right........

It's all about standards, set them low enough and might just trip over them! Lol
