Hello,
I am new to the forum. A lifelong resident and hunter of Washington. I grew up on the Olympic Peninsula and spent my youth hunting Blacktails and elk. My adult hunting has consisted mostly of hunting Whitetails and Muleys in GMU 204 East Okanogan. I have been hunting exclusively with a traditional muzzleloader for 30 years .54 T/C Hawken, 90 gr. Goex 2FF , .535 patched round ball, and buckhorn sights.
After 10 years of submitting special hunt apps. I finally drew a tag. A buddy told me many years ago to put in for the Desert Unit and showed me pictures of big muley bucks in there. I drew the 2016 muzzleloader tag for the Desert Unit Oct. 8-16. 1 of 2 tags.
Now I am trying to gather information about the Desert Unit. I am planning to go over there a couple of times this Summer to scout. My buddy knows a guy who knows a guy with some knowledge of the area. :)
Anyone willing to share information about the Desert Unit GMU 290 it will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Congrats on the draw. I've been on a couple antlerless hunts in there, but not a buck hunt yet. Fun area to hunt.
There's been quite a lot discussed on that unit over the years. If you type "Desert" in search function you will have a few hours of quality reading.

Congrats I had that tag in 2013. Filled it in the first 2 hour. Funny thing is there was 3 tags in 2013 and I shot a deer. The next season they dropped it to 2. Hmmmmmmm sucks that muzzle loader hunters only get 2 tags. Great hunt though PM sent.
