I have been kicking this around since 2013 and just couldn't make up my mind if I wanted it w/Varmint barrel or American configuration.
I went w/the American, I have two other 527 Americans, a 204 and a 22 Hornet and they are plenty accurate. I have a 223 527 in Varmint Kevlar configuration from back when they put them in HS Precision stocks and both of my Americans shoot just as well. Like around a half inch at 100 yards.
We have a 6.5-20 Leupold sitting around that I am going to put on it. From what I hear CZ has changed the bolt handle profile to accommodate most scopes now, so I shouldn't need to wait for Calhoon to send out a modified bolt handle.
I'm going to try to shoot it on chucks next week and then will pull the scope off and send it down to Leupold and have them swap out the duplex for fine CH/dot. I think this will be about the forty-eleventh reticle change that old warhorse of a rifle scope has had in it's 25 years that I have had it. After next week the chucks will be down for the summer and I get too busy to shoot them even if they are up.
If it shoots well enough I am going to just shoot the ammo I already have setup for the Contender next week. I am not going to have time to fart around with it, I am just going to have to mount a scope on it and hopefully fit in a trip to the range to get it zeroed.

Congrats, but you know the drill. Pics or it didn't happen.

This is the other thing that is a "must have" for 527s. It is a Calhoon Single Shot Adapter and he makes short and long ones.

I love my CZ's, I have the 550FS in 9.3X62 and 6.5X55, 527FS in .223 and a 455 Training Rifle in .22. I will be looking into a Calhoon Single Shot Adapter for the .223.

That single shot adapter looks nice. I have a 455 American .22lr that I love, but the only thing I don't like about it (and all CZ rifles) the the protruding magazine. It's so damn ugly it's a deal breaker. Does anyone make a flush magazine (2 or 3 round?)

Yes, I forget who it is, they modify the magazines and they cut away the metal on the front of the trigger guard, but not for any rimmed cartridges. Or you can order both two-shot magazine & trigger guard from CZ that will function w/223 or 204.
I shoot my CZ 527 rifles so often w/single shot adapters in them that the magazine hanging down isn't a big deal to me. I sure like my Sako A1 & Vixen action rifles better in that regard though.

Congrats on the new 527 17 Hornet. I recently bought my first ever CZ a few weeks ago.
I see James Calhoon mentioned a couple times, anyone have any actual work done by him, if yes how did it turn out for you??
Been thinking about sending him my new CZ 527 to do a couple little things on but other than talking to him briefly on the phone I don't know anything about him or his work. If anyone has had him do work on their gun/s I'd appreciate hearing, good or bad, how it went. If you prefer to PM me with how your experience went, feel free to do so.

Delayed!! I think that if the federal Govt delays pickup that they should have to pay for a person's time and mileage. I have bought guns from Cabela's and by the time I got home got a call to turn around and come back.
