Title: RAD Broadheads 2016 harvest thread.
Post by: MLBowhunting on June 26, 2016, 12:36:38 AM
Let's keep this going all season.  Photo's don't have to be with dead animals all the time, but we like to see those also.  My Idaho bear with a Ti-Con titanium broadhead.   24 yard shot with a complete pass thru both shoulders.

Ok... RAD question.  What is the main difference in a mad max LPS 100 grain head and the Van Dyke LPS 100 grain?  Is it titanium ferrule only?  Do they use the same blades?

What is the best one to run through an Idaho elk and Washington elk this year?  I want to join the RAD harvest thread!

blades are the same for both heads.

Thanks.  I take it the titanium is much more durable.  How much is it worth is probably the question.

I will be chasing elk with the MadMan this season.  Shot two elk with the titanium heads last year.  The titanium ferrules are bullet proof and well worth the money.

Ti-con.
75ish yards thru the air. Broke the last rib and hit the other side at an odd angle causing the broad head to cut thru 6 ribs and come out in front of the shoulder. Complete pass through...hoping to shoot and elk with the same arrow/broadhead.

Ultra Con X and 2317 arrow at 650 grains hammered my Oregon bull. It shattered the heaviest part of the off-side shoulder on a complete pass-through and knocked him over into the wallow, and I got my first 0 yard recovery elk.

alright so I don't usually believe it all when people start praising something on a forum especially when its a forum members business. nothing against anyone I just don't drink the kool aid to quick. that said I had to get some new heads this year as my wac em's have been recycled through to many deer and elk the last few years. I went to sportsmens and was lookin for wac em and they didn't have any but I noticed they had some savora madman I think, and some triple sec. I said what the hell lets see what the hype is about I bought the madman. anyways they seem pretty nice and I was totally surprised when I shot 4" groups out to 60yds without touching a pin first time I have had a fixed blade that I didn't have to tune the blade or the bow. so far I am impressed with them. when I quit passin on all my forkys and 3pts or I stick one of the 4's I will post a pic and see how they really perform or if an elk decides to commit suicide this weekend I will post it up

I thought having one go down in the Green River with ice and snow was bad!  That looks 10X worse  :yike:

Note to self...wait for bull to exit wallow before taking shot! :chuckle: :chuckle:

I've only seen it done once it was a 2nd arrow on a cow elk 20yd shot.  Blood everywhere it looked like somebody walked with a fire hose of blood for about 50yds before it died.

Didn't get a field pic, so took a selfie in the garage. The opposite of long arming. Instead of an average blacktail, it looks like a booner grey squirrel!

Took an elk yesterday with the RAD HPV100. Front quarter shot. Elk went 25 yards before it went down. Then I spooked it and it went another 25 yards before finally expiring.

Nice wicked sharp broadhead. Nicked my finger on one :)
No blood trail though. Not even a drop.

He broke the g2 and g3 on his left side rolling down the hill. His right side is actually a drop club with some goofy eyeguards. My apologies as the pics arent the best due to his location and the yellow jackets!

We won't talk about loosing arrows  :chuckle:

There's a "few" arrows in stumps, trees, and buried in the ground...I'm investing in judo tips next year unless rad has a small game head to help prevent lost arrows and soften the blow on my wallet...I did only lose one good broadhead through  :chuckle: and boy was that fun stalking these grouse with a bow...I would only shoot under 20yds for the challenge and had a blast, going back out tomorrow with my boy and his new 20ga

Nice birds and pics!

I have a weakness when it comes to grouse during deer elk season.  Maybe I should work on a limited skip and bury small game head.  The G5 S.G.H. is pretty good option of you can't get the judo to shoot with your broadheads. It does skip more than a Judo does, but kills grouse and even Arizona's monster bunnies with authority!

When I was young we would buy steel blunts by the 100 bag.  Then spend a weekend at the drill press making two holes at 90 degrees and pressing roll pins in them.  Not sure what they weighed when we were done, but we killed a bunch of grouse and sage rats with them.

This year my plans changed when I landed a new job and was stuck to weekends. With good buddies to help me in the woods and the gal at home holding down the fort I was able to get out and get it done.

At 51 yards steep down hill-holding for 40, I got a pass through. The crazy part was that it went completely through the off side shoulder blade. 70# Z7x 475gr total weight Black Eagle Rampage tipped with a 125grn DelMastro.

Either she's small or that's the world's biggest Muley doe :yike:

I do not know any details yet, but my nephew Ethan took his best deer to date on Saturday using a Triple Sec HPV100.

Deer number two for RAD Broadheads for my son. This year he used the new MadMan Crossbow Series 100gr heads.

Eight yard shot, double lung and stuck in a stump about 40 yards away.

Took this cow at 22 yards. crushed the opposite side shoulder. the blades where perfect ferrule not so much.  I have to say that the Tri-Con 125 is my favorite Broadhead to date that I have shot.

Two more for the RADs from WI.

My dad used the 100 gr Madman crossbow and I used the TiCon 100.  This was the fourth deer that this arrow has taken. the TiCon had awesome penetration with a crappy shot....

My arrow entered in the rear ham, exited the inside, entered the stomach, passed the length of a corn filled stomach, center punched the liver, missed a lung by about a half inch, passed through a rib and chopped the crap out of the inside of front leg.  This with a 25 or so yard shot with a 60-62 pound bow.

Shot this guy fr 20ft up @ 15yrds Ti-con125 did a nice job! He had come thru my stand around noon & stopped behind a berry bush I over looked, so a little later I made a trip around the area with a scent trail & just before 3 he stood in front of my tree stand & the bowtech delivered a savora Ti-con with a complete pass thru

First bow kill, spotted 400 yards away and took 2 hours to get to 20 yards. Heart shot, ran about 30 yards.

Well after a tremendously disappointing month of whitetail hunting. Including near chances and blown opportunities at P&Y bucks, I took this pup at the end of the season.

High double lung shot. He made it about 75 and tipped over. TiCon 125 with fresh blades.

I think I will switch to the TiCons from the VanDyke. No complaints on the VD though, it is a sturdy little beast

The Ti-Con 125 may be the oldest design in our line of broadheads, but it remains as one of my all time favorites!  Doesn't seem to matter if shot from the wife's 50# bow and knitting needle arrows or one of my big boy lightning bolts.  Never fails to fly well and put animals in the dirt quick!

Though the VanDyke's durability and penetration continues to amaze me.

:yeah: the VanDyke absolutely crushed my elk this year. Blew through a high shoulder and jammed very deep into the offside leg bone. Stayed straight despite all the abuse it took. Wife used the same one on her deer. Takes so little to change blades.

The new heads look super sexy though. Might have to rock them
