I have an iPhone 6s that I use for maps/navigating. What do you guys use to keep it from getting wet while afield?
-
otter box and a pocket
-
Otter box and glass screen protector. Inside jacket pocket when not in use
-
Another vote for otter box and I keep mine in a hip pocket of my back pack.
-
Otter box defender and a roll on screen protector. Pop the otter box screen protector out of the case and roll the roll on one on before putting it in the case. I didn't like how the otter box one was raised up a little off the screen.
-
Otter box & a pocket
-
Screen protector & speck cover.
For extra protection from water you can wrap your phone in saran or any plastic wrap tightly and still use it as if it wasn't there. It also helps for dust!
-
Are you hunting with it or chasing Pokemon? Be honest... Lol

Lifeproof case. Waterproof and shock proof. It is spendy though 100.00

:yeah: my iPhone took a swim when it fell out of my pocket last night and it's still going strong. had the flashlight on and in my pocket so I could see and plop splash! :chuckle:

The otterbox is not as good as the lifeproof case. Not sure where the other one falls into the standings. Lifeproof is all around better if you ask me. Mines taken a dunk in the creek too. Still kicking without issue.

Just get a Droid and be done with the girly phone. :chuckle:

Lifeproof are good, until they start falling apart. I went thru three of them in a year and a half because they kept falling apart, or the rubber on the silent toggle switch would rip off, which makes them no longer waterproof. Not to mention a lot of people kept telling me I sounded gargled when I would be talking to them. Now on my 6s plus I just run a slimmer otterbox and a tempered glass screen protector. If I'm going to be in the rain, I will sometimes throw it in a ziploc.

Learn how to read a map and leave the crutch at home.
-
Otter box. Dropped my phone off of a fire lookout 20' not a single crack on the phone. Some scratches on the case.
-
None of you guys keep a cell phone for safety when in the backcountry for 5 days? Place has cell reception. Also otter box isn't waterproof. Heard about life proof cases but also saw there are waterproof bag cases that are only like $10? Nobody has tried those? Phone already has a glass screen protector and a tough case. It's the water that is concerning...

I'm guessing he knows how to read a map.
Heck, learn how to use a rock and a stick and leave the gun at home.
-
I leave mine in the truck.

Ok, to answer your original question again, a ziploc. Lifeproof cases wear out way too quick in my experience.
-
Ziploc knock off. Man, you guys spend a lot of money on such things! I am starting to feel as cheap as Bean Counter.
-
In the field I take a sat phone so I know there will be service for emergencies, as long as I can see the sky. I keep it in double zip locks in my pack.
And carry a Garmin unit for navigation, the cell phone is for calling the wife, on my way home.

I can keep going. My phone is ultralight weight and tiny compared to cameras, maps, books, gps etc that it replaces.

I bought a case similar to this while in Hawaii earlier this year for taking pics at the resort we were at and swimming. I spent a little more since i bought it from a shop there but it worked. I was able to get mine in snugly with my slim case on but removed my screen protector because it seemed to be too much of a barrier. Did fine and no water. Might use it for hunting if i need it.

I use an Incipio gel case with a little lip with no screen protector. When hunting I put the phone inside a Ziplock bag to keep it dry.
I have had no issues since
-
S7 edge. Its waterproof.
:IBCOOL:
-
another vote for Ziploc. I have never had a problem using my phone through a Ziploc bag and it stays perfectly dry. Can even talk through it.
-
The glovebox in the truck
-
Otterbox. Amazon usually has a deal on them.

I also use a ziplock, but I put some toilet paper in it just to help with any moisture.
-
Alocksak is your solution. I've been using these for years to store all kinds of gear in my pack and ensure waterproof protection in the field.
-
Otter Box. I have dropped mine twice in the water at the boat launch this year and when I opened it up, all was good!

I roll my phone in a small washcloth and put it in a Ziploc. I like the heavier duty bags, not the flimsy sandwich baggies.

I have a similar case. Used it when fishing, worked flawless. kept the saltwater off phone
I plan to use during hunting season also

http://www.rectatech.com/iphone-5s-waterproof-shockproof-case-with-stand
I've been using this case for a week now. It cost $29 with shipping. Waterproof, fairly shockproof, although the glass protection is only a thin sheet of plastic. The downside is that it needs the original IPhone charging cord. Aftermarket charging cords are too big to fit in the hole with the case on.
-
My Gzone is already shock proof, water proof and dust proof.
-
I'm a ziplock guy here as well. I usually have it buried deep in my pack as well.. I use it often for pictures and I like to listen to podcasts at night while I'm on solo hunts. Haven't had any problems as of yet.. I do this when I go snowboarding as well..
